We wish you a very happy and peaceful #Demera and #Meskel celebrations! If the sky looks red over Addis in late September, it may not just be the sunset. Across Ethiopia, #Orthodox Tewahedo communities come together for Meskel, one of the country's most important religious and cultural celebrations, commemorating the discovery of the True #Cross. The celebration takes many forms across the country. In #AddisAbeba, thousands gather at #MeskelSquare as the Demera is lit, while in places such as #Gishen, #Axum and Gondar, Meskel is marked within landscapes deeply connected to Ethiopia's #history and #faith. We picked a few of these places to offer a glimpse into a celebration that reaches far beyond one night or one #city.
