A poem/prayer read at the 2026 HOD blot to Thor by Cearl of Mercia: Hail and greetings to Wodan's kin! You Heavenly Gods who are mighty and wise, It is right to give you our blot and prayer, Since you taught the Holy Ways to Father Mannus, Whence came Ing, Irmin and Istio's folk, From whom came rulers of land and sea. Impart to us here, we children of Mannus, Blessings of victory and thriving fields, And give shelter to us, who tend hallowed fire, And bring gifts for your aid, to us and our heirs. Hail to you, son of Woden and Earth! Wielder of Heaven-fire, Middle-Yard's ward, Loud-riding Punor of the oaken grove, You whose hammer is the devourers' bane, Whose breath is the wind, whose path is the storm, World-worm's Slayer, Sky-lord, come forth. You who splits the dark cloud for sunlight and rain, Oh, Steadfast Striker, Husband of Sif, May you bless our rite and receive our gifts, For healthy offspring and flourishing fields, And grant strength to us in defence of truth, Our forebears' ways in times of need. We Hail the father of strength, wrath, and might, As your chariot rumbles, may the ettins quake, From your lofty fortress, may you reign forever!

The media will have you believe that the “new” patrix with a horned weapon dancer discovered two years ago in Kent, has proven that the Sutton Hoo helmet was not made in Sweden. In reality the helm’s similarities to Vendel era Svea helms was observed in the sixties but it has been a long time since anyone seriously argued it was made in Sweden. The method of construction was very different and the foil motifs have even been found on another English helm (Staff hoard). Additionally the specific motif of a Wodenic dancer wearing bird crests (horns) is found on loads of English artefacts (as well as across the Germanic world) and has never been exclusively Swedish. This die/patrix is yet another example, and doesn’t change what archaeologists think about things. I made a whole video about the weapon dancer motif and what it means which you can see below 👇

Mysterious Celtic La Tène sword found deposited in a well at the sanctuary of Zeus at Nemea, in the Peloponnese So at the height of Greek civilisation (4th c BC), right in the south of Greece, either Celts were present or Greeks thought Celtic swords were so good that they imported or copied them. Central European Celts of Pannonia had expanded to the Danube and Sava Rivers by the mid 4th century BC, going on to conquer parts of Illyria and Thrace.

A striking example of early Irish Christian art. Folio 3v. from the 7th century book of Durrow. The central circular and spiral motifs show clear continuation with pre-Roman Late La Tene Irish art. The borders are influenced by Salin style II art of the Angles in Northumbria. This particular page has no clear Christian symbolism and would have had obvious connotations with the pagan past of Ireland as well as the pagan present in England to any contemporary observer.
