السعيد من وعظ بغيره A couple of lessons I've learned from some of my own teachers: - Literally nobody is immune from the fitnah (test) of Allah - Nobody knows the wisdom of Allah in what might seem to be a negative development in one's life We know this because half a dozen of my own teachers who judged other Muslims and madrasah students - for some deficiency in their religion yesterday - ended up landing themselves in some severe tribulation (financial, reputational, religious, or otherwise), from which they could not extricate themselves. We know this because of some teachers who used to say, 'So and so student is now deprived (محروم) because he had to leave madrasah, or was expelled, or went into a taxi job.' Fast forward on two decades later, those same teachers lost their jobs at the same madrasah and could not find employment to teach elsewhere. We know this because the 'playing god' rhetoric that surrounded madrasah discourse yesterday - pretending to know what Allah intended by x event in someone's life - has completely died off in those same circles, because the teachers we looked up to in those times then fell like flies and could not hold themselves to the very high standards of perfection they set for everyone else when they were sitting to teach. Everyone has mellowed down. Everyone has shut up. Everyone is left with regret over how they behaved yesterday. Allah and the Shariah are still here, unchanged. But those people - who thought they were the flagbearers of the Shariah and religion - changed. Their warped understanding of the religion could not stand the test of time - precisely two decades. This is why constant Dua is required for protection from tribulation. It does not matter how big you become.
