Pannir Selvam currently faces imminent execution in Singapore. At 29 years old, he was sentenced for importing just over 50g of heroin. Over the past seven years, Pannir and his loved ones exchanged many heartfelt letters with each other — it is one of their only remaining forms of communication. 📹 Watch and share the video on Instagram or YouTube to hear some of these exchanges, which provide a window into the pain, yearning and love family members and death row prisoners experience.

Human Day (人日) is the 7th day of the Lunar New Year. As we celebrate everyone's birthday today, the Singapore government continues to execute prisoners while sending more people to the death row. This Renri, let’s recommit to valuing every human life. "Your Honour, it is the state who should be on trial, not me. I didn't kill anyone," Jolovan Wham said when called to the stand. Around 30 people showed up at the State Courts this morning, a great show of solidarity for him while calling for the end of the death penalty. He is currently facing five charges under the Public Order Act for holding vigil for death row prisoners, and the Police are investigating him for five other similar cases. It is ridiculous that this is how the state continues to use our public resources, especially while the state gets away scot-free for the murders they have been committing behind bars. His next hearing at the State Courts is scheduled for 9.30AM on 1 April 2025. See y'all in two months! 🔗 https://www.instagram.com/p/DFmaM3RSa68/

Statement: THEY ARE TRYING TO BURY US. BUT WE ARE SEEDS, WE WILL KEEP GROWING. On 27 Jan, while we were still reeling from Syed’s execution, the Transformative Justice Collective and it's members were slapped with criminal POFMA investigations for posts we had already put up Correction Notices for, as ordered by the POFMA Office between October and December 2024. The individuals summoned are Kokila Annamalai, Rocky Howe and Sobikun Nahar. Kokila has also been summoned for investigations for refusing to comply with a Correction Order she was given in October 2024. If charged, the punishments we face are severe, including staggering fines and imprisonment. TJC member Jolovan Wham was informed on the same day, 27 Jan, that he is going to be charged with five counts of participating in a public assembly without a permit, for peaceful vigils held for death row prisoners outside Changi Prison on the eve of their executions. Meanwhile, two more execution notices have been issued in just this past week. The families have asked for privacy, so we won’t be sharing more details. Jolovan will be in State Court 4B on Monday, 3 Feb, at 10am to face his charges. Please come and join us in showing him your support. ✊🏾🔥 This is a lot to bear at once, but we will persevere. Please scroll to read our full statement in response to these intensifying assaults on our freedom of expression. Please help to spread the word by forwarding this message and sharing our Instagram post.

The Anti-Death Penalty Asia Network has produced a podcast episode on Singapore and Malaysia. In the first episode, Kirsten Han from Singapore and Ngeow Chow Ying from Malaysia—two anti-death penalty activists and ADPAN members—reflect on the pivotal moments that shaped their countries' shifting stances, and the challenges they continue to face in the ongoing fight for abolition. They also talk about Pannir, who is currently on death row in Singapore. Check it out here: https://voicesbeyondverdicts.podbean.com/ 🎧

I was the one on the verge of tears," Derek wrote. Read it in full here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DFIHqP9yzzV/ Syed is scheduled to be hung by the state in about six hours.

"I have changed, and I feel good. I have agency of perseverance." This is Syed's final letter to us. The state has scheduled for him to be executed first thing tomorrow morning. 🙏 Share his letter on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/DFHtMqAy19i/ 👉 You may also read it via http://stopthekilling.sg/2025/01/21/syed-suhail-bin-syed-zin-faces-execution-this-thursday/

❗️Syed Suhail is scheduled to be executed this Thursday. ❗️ In 2021, Syed's sisters worked with us to create and collect the first batch of signatures for the petition to stop the executions. In 2022, one of them delivered the petition to Minister Shanmugam on World Day Against the Death Penalty, together with other family members of death row prisoners. They never heard back from him. When, one day, enough Singaporeans stand up against the death penalty, and the government is forced to abandon this barbaric practice, Syed and his family’s efforts would not have gone to vain, even though Syed will not be alive to celebrate that day with us. Please sign the petition if you haven't. ✍️ 🔗 Read more about Syed and his final letter to us here: stopthekilling.sg/2025/01/21/syed-suhail-bin-syed-zin-faces-execution-this-thursday/ 🗯 Share the Instagram post: instagram.com/p/DFFmCv1yILX/
