~50 People came down yesterday to State Court in solidarity with Jolovan Wham, who answered to 5 new charges. Tomorrow, FIVE other activists will be called down as well, for peaceful actions in memory of killed Palestinians and death row inmates.

| 6 |  For bringing the first Consitutional Challenge against the Mandatory Death Penalty (MDP) in 15 years and losing at the High Court and the Court of Appeal, we have been ordered by the Courts to pay a staggering $25,000 in Cost Orders for the Court of Appeal stage.
So far, we have about $13,500 left in costs of the appeal that we have not managed to fundraise.

| 13 |  At the 9th World Congress Against the Death Penalty, Elijah Tay, a member of the Transformative Justice Collective and Student Actions for Transformative jUstice (SATU) spoke on the panel, "The war on drugs and the death penalty: a stumbling block."
During which, they shared about the challenges we face in Singapore, as well as the strategies we adopt on the ground.
In particular, they drew attention to the government's witch hunt of drug trade workers and the context of increasing authoritarianism here over the past decades.

| 15 |  +1The 9th World Congress Against the Death Penalty in Paris has gone by in a flash. At the closing ceremony, TJC was one of two organisations presented with the Documentation Award. (The other was Iran Human Rights, who do amazing and amazingly brave work tracking executions in Iran.)
I’m so proud and grateful that TJC’s work has been recognised by allies and comrades in our shared struggle for the abolition of the death penalty. I’m so proud of TJC as a collective for what we have done over the years, and what we continue to do together. It hasn’t been easy in so many ways, but we’ve been able to achieve more together than any of us could have done alone. And we won a documentation award at a time when the government’s POFMA orders essentially left us with no choice but to give up our website and multiple social media platforms until the end of this year!
