Syed Suhail was executed by the PAP government in Jan 2025. On death row, he fought for the rights of fellow prisoners. The tiles around his grave have been wobbly. Did you know that human society has been using drugs for at least 13,000 years? Whether it’s alcohol, opium, cannabis or coca, drugs have always been part of human civilisations. If we suspend the stigma around drugs and look at the science instead, what does it tell us about why people use drugs, and what kinds of drug policies keep our communities safer from the harms of drug use? On Sunday, 28 June, join TJC for We Keep Us Safe, a day of activities at Pearl's Hill Terrace where we build knowledge, skills and experience in keeping each other safe from state and societal violence in its different forms. We're looking for 5 storytellers to speak at "Hooked: Stories the Government Doesn't Want You to Hear" from 5-6 pm. The session will spotlight personal journeys of how punishment has derailed and disrupted lives, and, on the flipside, how peer and community support have helped them survive. You do not need to have public speaking experience. We are interested in your personal stories and can provide help to refine your story before the event. On 11th April 2026, Singapore held its first anti-imperial protest in decades. With a crowd of ~400 Singaporeans and PRs (and 4 dogs), six people spoke about Singapore's complicity and contribution to the US' crimes against humanity, and how the people should and can assert our will against imperial violence. Singapore has seen a wave of solidarity with Palestine unlike anything in recent decades: student actions, fundraisers, peaceful demonstrations, and more. But those in power have come after this solidarity. Activists and organisers have faced suppression, policing, and reprisals, many of which have, until now, been kept in the shadows or hidden in plain sight. Still Steadfast: Punishment and Perseverance in Singapore’s Movement Against Genocide examines the push-and-pull between activists and the forces attempting to silence them. Drawing on interviews and focus group discussions, this report is part of the Transformative Justice Collective (TJC)'s ongoing effort to document the nature and extent of authoritarian control in Singapore, and to bear witness to those who resist it. Yesterday morning, Koki was charged in court after refusing to comply with the POFMA correction directive for her post on Azwan bin Bohari’s execution in October 2024. As the charges were only read to her 2 days before her court mention, she hasn’t had the time to talk to lawyers yet, and thus not ready to enter a plea. More than twenty people attended in solidarity. The people deserve our freedom of speech, freedom of information, freedom to contest ideas. Missed this one? Another hearing is coming up next Thursday (30 April) at the Supreme Court — the AGC had appealed against Koki, Sobi, and Camira’s acquittal from the Letters for Palestine trial. Omar bin Yacob Bamadhaj is facing execution on 16 April 2026. His wife, Maria, and daughter, Amal, are unable to travel to Singapore to visit him in his last days. His young son passed away in November last year; the family was still reeling from the loss when they were informed by the prison of Omar’s imminent execution.
