Arie Zondervan (1910–ca. 1983) grew up as an only child in a Protestant family. He was born in Berlin but moved back to the Netherlands in 1918 with his Dutch parents. After HBS, he studied Dutch-Indies law in Leiden. He actually wanted to become a naval officer but was rejected due to his poor eyesight. At a young age, Zondervan developed fascist ideas. In 1933, he and his parents joined the NSB, and later he became active in the WA. In 1939, he became adjutant to NSB leader Anton Mussert. When Germany attacked the Netherlands, Zondervan proved his worth as a conscripted officer. In 1941, Zondervan enlisted in the Netherlands Legion to set a good example and inspire the Dutch to fight against the USSR. Neues Europa archive Pureᛉwisdom
