In a major success for security forces, a joint team of the Assam Rifles, Special Task Force (STF), and Longding Police conducted a coordinated operation in the Tissing (Zedua Village) area near Longding town on 19/02/2026. During the operation, an active cadre of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) (NSCN-IM), identified as SS Capt Ponglem Wangpan (35 years), son of Lt. Ajong Wangpan of Longsom Village, District Longding (Arunachal Pradesh), was apprehended. The following arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession: 01 × 5.56 mm INSAS rifle 01 × 9 mm pistol 01 × INSAS magazine 01 × Pistol magazine 18 × 5.56 mm rounds 02 × 9 mm rounds Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested cadre was leading a team of four members. The group had reportedly arrived in Longding with an undisclosed objective. An FIR has been registered at Longding Police Station vide Case No. 08/26 under Sections 25(1A)/27 read with Sections 10/13 of the UAP(A). Further investigation is underway.
