Repost from The Communists
The CPGB-ML joins all progressive and anti-imperialist workers in condemning the brutal kidnapping of young comrades who were attending a youth camp organised by the World Anti-imperialist Platform in Istanbul.
This action comes as imperialist leaders prepare to convene the annual Nato conference in Ankara next week (7-8 July).

[Statement of the World Anti-imperialist Platform]
The Erdoğan Fascist Government Must Immediately Release the International Delegation of the World Anti-imperialist Youth Platform and Turkish Youth Activists!
At around 3:00 AM on July 1, the Erdoğan fascist authorities raided the youth camp venue of the World Anti-imperialist Youth Platform (Youth Platform). Then, at around 8:00 AM, they illegally and violently detained a total of about 20 people, including the international delegation of the World Anti-imperialist Youth Platform and Turkish youth activists. They are currently being held at the Çanakkale Police Station. The members of the Youth Platform were ruthlessly seized by the fascist authorities while conducting theoretical and academic events, including the 3rd International Anti-imperialist Conference of the Youth Platform and Seminars, along with international solidarity activities on the outskirts of Istanbul. The Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye explicitly stipulates the freedom of thought and academia. The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which is one of the core UN human rights treaties and was ratified by Türkiye in 2003, guarantees freedom of expression and thought. This detention by the Turkish authorities is the worst fascist outrage that brutally violates their own constitution and international law.
The Erdoğan fascist government has completely transformed the entire territory of Türkiye into a lawless zone ahead of the NATO Summit. Since June, using the Ankara Prosecutor’s Office as its instrument, it has launched a so-called “anti-terror operation.” To date, more than 500 people, including members of progressive political parties in Türkiye as well as worker and youth activists, have been arrested in a large-scale, orchestrated campaign of preemptive arrests carried out under the pretext of national security, and some have been detained. From midnight on June 28 until midnight on July 10, all forms of public assemblies, demonstrations, street marches, press conferences, leaflet distributions, and banner displays have been completely banned throughout the capital city of Ankara and in all locations where NATO military bases are situated. Core roads heading toward the airport, the vicinity of the summit venue, and areas surrounding the delegations’ accommodations have been completely blockaded by the military and police. Under the guise of administrative orders, the authorities are fabricating a state of martial law, gravely violating not only the human rights and freedoms of the progressive forces in Türkiye but also those of the people.
The Erdoğan fascist government must immediately release the international delegation of the Youth Platform and Turkish youth activists! We strongly condemn the ruthless, illegal, and violent detention of both domestic and foreign nationals by raiding on an event that was conducted completely legally and held solely for internal participants. We reemphasizes the fact that the Youth Platform—fully aware of the fascist atrocities of the Turkish authorities who are turning Ankara into a massive prison under the pretext of the NATO Summit—conducted its events solely as an internal events in a remote area located seven hours from Istanbul, which itself is six hours away from Ankara. The fact that NATO is behind this Turkish fascist outrage once again confirms the viciousness and barbarism of NATO, the gathering center of imperialist aggressive forces and the headquarters for World War 3. “Disband NATO!” and “Down with Imperialism!” are the most righteous slogans that the youth and people throughout the world must shout at this present time. We will never yield to any violence or suppression by the imperialist forces of aggression and the Turkish fascist authorities; rather, we will arouse the youth and people of the world to overthrow imperialism and fascism, bringing forward a new world of independence, democracy, and peace.

The US imperialists are now attempting military occupation under the disguise of so-called "humanitarian assistance." Even as the Venezuelan Bolivarian Armed Forces, engineers, and communes are voluntarily joining forces with the Rodríguez interim government in relief efforts, the USA is seeking to legitimize its intervention by falsely depicting the situation as a “government crisis” and a “power vacuum.” On June 25, military assets—including personnel from US Southern Command, a large amphibious transport ship, transport tiltrotor aircraft, and transport helicopters—were deployed in large numbers to the northern coast and other areas. US Southern Command officially announced that it would station a "Joint Air Component Coordination Element (JACCE)" and “Conitngency Response Element" at airports in northern Venezuela. This has exposed the US military's scheme to establish military bridgeheads by taking control of Venezuela's airspace. The same method was employed after the 2010 Haiti earthquake, when US forces occupied Haiti. Under the banner of an ”integrated response operation," they seized control of air traffic operations at Toussaint Louverture International Airport―Haiti's only major gateway―as well as control of its ports, while deploying 22,000 US troops on Haitian territory and in its territorial waters. Although billions of dollars in relief funds were raised worldwide through the US-led Interim Haiti Recovery Commission, more than 90 percent was diverted, and a pro-US corrupt regime subsequently emerged, deepening fascistic rule. It was for precisely this reason that, during the devastating floods in Venezuela in late 2010, the Chávez government acted preemptively to block US intervention by enacting a new Enabling Law.
The United States must immediately lift all economic sanctions on Venezuela. All countries should strengthen genuine humanitarian assistance. The deployment of U.S. troops to Venezuela would open the principal gateway for imperialist intervention. What Venezuela needs today is not the violation of its sovereignty but respect; not military occupation but economic assistance. Venezuela is a partner country of the BRICS committed to multilateralism. Venezuela is a BRICS partner country committed to multilateralism. It has actively participated in the Non-Aligned Movement, which defends sovereignty and promotes mutual respect, as well as in ALBA-TCP and CELAC, which uphold the principles of independence, equality, and shared prosperity, making important contributions to peace, stability, and development throughout the world. Governments and international solidarity organizations around the world must provide humanitarian and economic assistance as swiftly and effectively as possible to support the survival of the Venezuelan people and the reconstruction of the country. With the unity, wisdom, and determination of the Venezuelan people, and through the strength of internationalist unity and solidarity, Venezuela will overcome this unprecedented disaster and resolutely defend its sovereignty, its people’s right to survival, and its right to development.

[Statement of the World Anti-imperialist Platform]
The United States Must Immediately Lift All Economic Sanctions on Venezuela!
As of June 27, following the powerful earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24, a tragic total of 1,430 people have lost their lives and 3,328 have been injured. Search and rescue operations for those still missing remain underway. Major transportation infrastructure in the northern region has suffered severe damage, forcing the suspension of all flights. According to a technical report by the US Geological Survey, the earthquake was a rare case in which an initial magnitude 7.2 tremor served as the direct precursor to a magnitude 7.5 main shock that struck the Venezuelan coast. The hardest-hit areas are La Guaira State and Caracas, both declared disaster zones, while significant damage has also been reported in Aragua, Carabobo, and other states. Acting President Rodríguez declared a national state of emergency on June 24, and the government has been systematically and actively providing medical care, temporary shelter, psychological support, and other forms of assistance. More than 30,000 domestic specialists are currently engaged in relief operations, while delegations from 21 countries have contributed 2,242 professional rescue personnel and related technical support.
The earthquake was a natural disaster, but the catastrophe is the result of imperialist economic blockade. Since Hugo Chávez came to power in 1999, US imperialism has relentlessly imposed vicious sanctions and blockades on Venezuela, pursuing a policy of isolation and strangulation. In 2015, the Obama administration declared a "national emergency" in order to justify the United States' arbitrary economic blockade. In 2017, the first Trump administration effectively blocked debt refinancing and international credit transactions for Venezuela's state-owned oil company, PDVSA. In 2019, it effectively seized all government and PDVSA assets and imposed so-called "secondary sanctions." As a result, not only the energy sector but also essential goods directly tied to the people's survival were subjected to sweeping restrictions. The cumulative loss to GDP has reached approximately US$700 billion, while more than US$20 billion in overseas assets have been frozen. The reason why preventive safety measures, including earthquake-resistant infrastructure, could not be adequately implemented, and why the latest equipment was lacking in search and rescue operations, is that the country's channels for energy exports and the import of materials have been completely obstructed for decades
The Lee Jae-myung Government, Which Speaks of “Reform,” Must First and Foremost Abolish the Fascist National Security Law and Repressive State Institutions!
The National Security Law must be abolished as a top priority, and US troops must be withdrawn. Lee Jae-myung, the nominal “President,” who remains a servant of imperialism and has failed to dismantle the fascist system, recently and unwisely aligned himself with the anti-DPRK, anti-China, and anti-Russia policies of the European imperialist powers through the joint statement issued at the “ROK”–EU summit. During this same period, the Lee government’s repressive institutions—the National Intelligence Service, the National Police Agency, and the prosecution service—simultaneously carried out an anachronistic campaign of fascist repression aimed at branding the People’s Democracy Party, an anti-insurrection party, as an “anti-state organization.”

Today, once again, we must denounce a systematic, coordinated, and cowardly attack against our colleague Elena Rodríguez, journalist and host of the programs En Contexto and Punto Noticias. Various digital portals and supposed media outlets aligned with the regime have launched a campaign aimed at discrediting her, not for lacking the truth, but precisely for practicing critical, firm, and independent journalism.
