Now, regarding the substance of your argument: the original German sentence, “Das ist kein unchristlicher Grundsatz, den ich vertrete,” is unambiguous. The correct translation is: “This is not an anti-Christian principle that I uphold.” A more idiomatic rendering in modern English would be: “I do not defend an anti-Christian principle,” or again, “This is not an anti-Christian principle that I support.” Your objection — that the correct word for “anti-Christian” would be “antichristlich” — is purely formal and ignores the broader context and intended meaning of the sentence. Hitler is clearly NOT DECLARING himself anti-Christian in this passage. On the contrary, he is defending a principle of intolerance by linking it to Christian tradition itself — specifically referencing the burning of heretics as a precedent. In doing so, he asserts that the harsh measures he supports are not in conflict with Christianity, but rather justified by it. Saying “this is not an un-Christian principle” is equivalent to claiming that such a principle is indeed compatible with Christianity. Thus, to argue that Hitler is presenting himself as anti-Christian here is simply unsustainable.
