Metamorphosia Sewing

I meant to finish this by Valentine’s Day. Only two months late.

I spent today trying to develop my own wristlet pouch pattern. My first attempt wasn’t exactly successful, but it’s still cute.

I was out thrifting this week and spotted upon a pirate’s treasure chest. I couldn’t resist. It’s made of real wood and metal. I have no idea what I’m going to do with it, but it looks cool.

Carpet bag made using second-hand materials, but with all new hardware. The bottom is vinyl and has six feet. Lots of pockets inside and outside. This tapestry fabric is a pain in the butt to work with, but it’s so pretty I’m willing to put up with it.

Whoever is Christmas Tree reacting me, please explain. I’m old and don’t unnastan emoji-speak. Don’t make me consult Urban Dictionary.

I am in the process of acquiring this fabric because there are some people who deserve it.

Tea wallets made from vintage 1970’s fabric samples and vintage lace. I tea dyed the elastic straps to match.

Newest commission is finally finished! A wall mounted custom cut Celtic cross in black walnut with custom knotwork. This is the first of it's kind that I've created and I'm so excited to get it out to the lovely Hrafna of Wheat and Sky. Another Bible/book tote. Both fabrics were thrifted or salvaged. The exterior fabric is a vintage 1970’s embroidered floral stripe. The interior is made soft, from 100% and has two pockets - one is a pen pocket. This tote fits a book up to 10” x 7” x 3”.

I haven’t been sewing a lot this year because I’ve been really busy with life stuff. I have two kids in high school/early college and they are involved in all kinds of extracurriculars which means I’m also involved in all kinds of extracurriculars. My husband has been working 50-60 hours per week in addition to his commute so I try to leave time to spend with him when he’s home. My daughter is researching university options and we’re doing a lot of volunteer work and community service (because she makes me). All of this is positive, but doesn’t leave much time for sewing. However, I still have enough time to buy more fabric that I don’t need. 👀 I hope to get back to sewing soon. I have some Celtic Knot fabric that I want to work on in time for St. Pat’s Day. I appreciate all of you for sticking around.

I purchased a couple of cherry themed charm packs from a Facebook fabric group and used a free fabric for the lining. Just a fun, quick sew for today.

Decided to just go ahead and use up all of this daisy quilting cotton to make two more. Using a bright, happy, spring-y print is helping me get through Snowmageddon.

Despite being trapped at home by ice and snow, I’ve been extremely unproductive, but I did manage to finish these two book totes today.
