Tesla's Optimus Bot, unveiled in September 2022, is a humanoid robot that is designed to be mass-produced and sold at a price lower than a car.

CEO Elon Musk has said that Optimus has the potential to revolutionize the global economy by automating many tasks that are currently performed by humans.

Tesla is not the only company working on humanoid robots, but Optimus has several potential advantages. First, Tesla has a lot of experience in mass-producing complex products at a low cost. Second, Tesla has access to a vast amount of data on human movement and behavior, which can be used to train Optimus to perform a wide range of tasks.

ChatGPT is likely to dominate the enterprise market due to its access to Microsoft's datasets and closed internal data. Gemini is likely to be the leader in the consumer market due to its access to Google's datasets and RLHF via the SGE (Search and Guidance Engine). Grok/Tesla/X is likely to be the best model for robotics and the "real world" due to its access to Tesla's real-time data and visual dataset. Grok has the advantage of RLHF via inclusion in X’s premium tier and access to X’s real-time data. Llama is the only open-source model on the list and has the potential to be disruptive. All four of these models will need to be iterated every 12-18 months. Apple is nowhere in the game, which is a risk to them. Their only potential friend is Grok/Tesla. Amazon is trying to enter the game via Anthropic, but it is still in its early stages. Verticalized AIs like MidJourney could also have a lot of value. Nvidia is a wild card. They would like more than four dominant Foundation Models, and they have the ability to impact the outcome. Improving GPU utilization via faster storage, better back end networking, and improved CPU/GPU integration will further improve the ROI on training. The architecture with the most “useful compute per unit of energy” will win. A 1M GPU cluster would be wild but seems possible in 5 years. Grok is the best name for an LLM thus far imo.
