“The anger and ordinances of the church. 'They are sinners' we hear in a fifteenth-century source, 'who leave food for Perchta in the "night of Perchta" to obtain prosperity and well-being in the coming year." And Christians are earnestly adjured to believe no longer in 'frawen percht' or 'frawn holt,' in 'herodiasis' or 'dyana,' 'the heathen goddess;' in another document Perchta is actually equated with Diana:'... diana quod vulgariter dicitur fraw Percht (commonly known as fraw Percht) ... tract of the thirteenth century complains that the young would rather chant of 'domina Perchta than say their prayers to the Virgin Mary. Luther also turns his disapproval against 'fraw Hulde' with her 'tremendous nose." - Lotte Motz

An interesting objection I have seen in relation to Hard Polytheism is, "we all live under one sky." What is interesting about this is that is that we quite literally don't. The North star Polaris & the Big Dipper constellation are only visible from the northern hemisphere, much like the Southern Cross constellation is only visible past the equator. It may be raining in one area & dry in the next. On one hemisphere day time, on the other night time. In trying to force the world religions into a single framework, they say, those of us who are tribal, that we are missing the forest for the trees. But we recognize a forest is a conglomeration of many trees & not a single entity onto itself. The return of local & ethnic faiths is the cure to all forms of globalism, this is why they shriek about the return of Paganism on so many levels. Not only does it take away the power from this faux-elite & gives it back to various peoples, but it reinvigorates our Gods & the force within us which made civilizations.

The cultural conversation has lead to an inevitable ultimatum: Forgiveness v Vengeance Contrary to popular belief, Forgiveness is present in ancestral faiths, but it's referred to as atonement aka earned forgiveness. This distinction is important because in an honor based society, if you wronged another, it is your responsibility to go out of your way to right that wrong. Handing out forgiveness, where no atonement is made, is being complicit in that wrong. Ergo, forgiveness is antithetical to honor. Consequently we have Gods & Goddesses associated with vengeance. In Germania, Viðarr. In Hellenism the beautiful but deadly Goddesses, the Erinyes or "furies," Nemesis & others. The Celtic Glaistig (green maiden) in Scottish folklore & so on. Justice is seen as balancing the scales, a wrong equaled out with a right. Atonement & vengeance are the definition of justice. The christian "forgiveness" is the inversion of justice & making one complicit in the evil behavior. Tl;Dr To have Justice, you need Paganism.

Anglo-Saxon metrical charms were used to magically resolve a situation or disease. These Anglo-Saxon metrical charms were originally compiled into the 10th-11th-century Lacnunga manuscript, with others being found in Bald's 10th-century Leechbook (also known as Medicinale Anglicum). Various charms in their original form include both Pagan and Christian characteristics. Here is a collection of all Anglo-Saxon metrical charms repurposed and revised to contain only Pagan characteristics. With the following charms, some of them have been left untouched where revision was not required and so as to stay true to the original charms as much as possible. We believe that these charms were originally developed and used in a Pagan context and later revised to fit a Christian context. With our repurposing, we have presented these charms in a way that Pagans can use today in a spiritually safe way. The revitalisation of these charms will enable modern Germanic Pagans to use them in a living tradition as it was done by our ancestors. A special thank you to WodenWyrd (Germanic Paganism) for his equal contribution to this project with me. Anglo-Saxon Pagan Spells

The History of the Lombards The Lombards, a Germanic people who came to rule most of Italy in the 6th–8th centuries, preserved a story about how their name was given by the gods. Two early sources, the Origo Gentis Langobardorum and Paul the Deacon’s Historia Langobardorum, record this tradition. Paul, a Christian monk, called such tales silly, but he still preserved them. The Lombards, first called the Winnili, were said to have come from Scadan, or Scandinavia. At war with the Vandals, the Vandals prayed to Godan (Odin) for victory. Odin replied he would grant it to the first he saw at sunrise. Frea (Frigg), wife of Odin, instructed the Winnili women to tie their hair across their faces like beards and march with the men. At dawn Odin looked out and asked, “Who are these long-beards?” Frea answered, “As you have named them, give them victory.” Odin agreed, and from then the Winnili were called Langobardi—“long-beards.” This story mattered because it gave the Lombards a divine origin tied directly to Odin’s word. Later traditions suggest that since it was through Frigg’s cunning that they gained the god’s favor, she received special reverence among them. It shows how early Germanic tribes grounded their identity in myth and the direct action of their gods. Art: Odin and Frigg - Harry George Theaker 1920

Þórr is known as the sterkastr ása ok allra guðanna ok mannathe strongest of all the Æsir and all the gods and men in Gylfaginning. But in saga Þórs ok Hrungnis, it’s shown that his son Magni is actually stronger than him and the other gods, being able to lift the leg of Hrungnir off his father with ease. For this Þórr gifted him the steed Gullfaxi, the strongest horse of Jötunheim and the former steed of Hrungnir. The Hercules Magusanus of the Germanic tribes of the lower Rhine may have a cultic connection to Magni, being uniquely associated with a pastoral way of life, keeping horses, cattle, and protecting the young warrior bands (iuventus). He was worshipped for rain and as a thunderer, and even wielded a club in his depictions in coinage. His main offerings were of cattle, and weapon deposits. One of his temples in Empel was also erected in an oak grove. These elements have echoes of the cult of his father, who we know was worshipped in primarily agro-pastoral contexts and conveyed strength to his worshippers.

Þórr is said to have wielded a club at one point before he wielded the famous hammer. This may have inspired the donarkeule found across Europe. This episode from book 3 of Gesta Danorum gives an epic depiction of Óðinn, Baldr and Þórr on the battlefield fighting against humans led by Höðr:
Nam Baldero Othinus ac Thoro sacraque deum agmina propugnabant. Diuinis humanisque uiribus permixtum aspiceres bellum. At Hotherus, tunica ferrum spernente succinctus, consertissimos deorum cuneos irrumpebat et, quantum terrenus in superna poterat, grassabatur. Sed et Thoro inusitato clave libratu cuocta clypeorum obstacula lacerabat, tantum ad se incessendum bestes inuitans, quantum socios ad tuendum. Nullum erat armature genus, quod impellenti non cederet. Nemo ferientem tuto excipere poterat. Quicquid ictu arcebat, obruit. Non clypei, non cassides impactum pertulere robur. Nulli corporis aut uirium magnitudo subsidio fuit. Proinde uictoria ad superos concessisset, ni Hotherus, inclinata suorum acie celerius aduolans, clauam preciso manubrio inutilem reddidisset. Quo telo defecti divi subitam dedere fugam. Then Balder, Odin, and Thor, together with the sacred host of the gods, fought in defense. You would have seen a battle in which divine and human forces were mingled. But Hotherus, girt with a tunic that scorned iron, broke through the densest ranks of the gods and pressed on as far as a mortal could against the heavenly powers. Thor, meanwhile, with an extraordinary swing of his club, was tearing apart every barrier of shields—inviting the beasts to attack him as much as he strove to protect his allies. There was no kind of armor that did not yield to his onslaught. No one could safely receive his blows. Whatever tried to ward off his strike, he crushed. Neither shields nor helmets endured the force of his impact. No greatness of body or of strength proved a defense. Accordingly, victory would have gone to the gods, had not Hotherus, when his own line was wavering, rushed forward swiftly and, by cutting off the handle of the club, rendered Thor’s weapon useless. With their champion thus disarmed, the gods suddenly turned to flight.

Like many ancestral faiths, Germania has a multitude of afterlife destinations, though the vast majority go to Hel's domain. When a Germanic dies, no matter where they are destined, there is a journey to and a judgement at Urd's Well. Some escorted by the Valkyries, while many dont have this take place. Upon the judgement a destination is given to the dead. Specifically for those who die in battle there are three main destinations: Valholl: As stated before, this is the residence for the private army of the God Odin's chosen. Here they train and feast until they're called to fight in Ragnarok. Folkvagnr: This is a realm of the Goddess Freyja's chosen. Whenever she rides to battle she gets half of the slain, and the other half Odin as stated by Grimnismal 14 & Gylfaginning chapter 24. Hel: the vast majority of the dead go to the Goddess Hel's domain. There, the dead meet, feast and converse with their ancestors. After sometime through some unknown means those dead are reborn through their bloodline.
