A sign that things are moving in the right direction, away from the “Epstein didn’t kill himself” memes and the obsession over his links to Bill Gates. Whilst it adds intrigue, uncovering the true nature of Epstein’s death is just not that important. We already know that there were plenty of people that would’ve wanted him silenced and that assassination is an habitual tactic of his compatriots. Nor would choosing to commit suicide be an irrational decision for him. The “didn’t kill himself” meme is yet another example of people being intentionally thrown a red herring around a politically dangerous scandal. That it has been turned into such a pop-culture joke, especially within the QAnon/MAGA-right scene, and given a wide audience with countless “debunking” articles in the left wing press, tells you that it is a safe and impotent topic of discussion.

For intelligent people, ‘multicultural’ refers to a society where there is no dominant culture that has a monopoly on politics or other cultural expressions, and where no pressure is exerted on newcomers to assimilate. For the less intellectually able, it appears to mean nothing more than the presence of a few minorities within a society, even if their cultural influence was negligible. Thus, a sprinkling of black slaves and servants in pre-industrial Britain is employed as proof that Britain was “always diverse”, or a politically irrelevant Chinese minority is proof that Australia was “always multicultural.”

Reality check for the internet hall monitors: the presence of a tiny racial minority who took part in civic events did not negate the project of ‘White Australia.’ And for that matter, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone make the claim that Federation was an explicitly racial endeavour. Why wouldn’t Australia’s minuscule minority groups take part in the celebrations? It benefited them as well.

In the space of less than 30 years, people who held the view that Australia should remain a majority White country went from sitting in the offices of the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader, to sitting in police interrogation rooms being investigated for “extremism.” Such a rapid change is not evidence of a shift in public opinion, but of a political conspiracy, a revolution in Australian ( and indeed Western) politics that occurred without so much as a single vote cast in its favour.
