But with the current negotiations I think Iran is going to push for something substantial like American companies working in Iran. This makes the deal more concrete and harder to uproot by the next president

Ok so how does this decoupling occur.
I think it will happen suddenly and shock many ppl.
It probably needs a trigger, which will likely be Israel doing something shocking enough that makes US leadership decide they are a liability.

* US will remove all sanctions on Iran
* US will pay 300B in restitution for damages
* Iran and Oman can continue to toll the strait
* US to give back all frozen funds the US has ever seized from Iran
* No discussion on nuclear weapons or ballistic missile programs
Mark my words this will be remembered for generations if it goes through. Complete collapse of US dominance.
