Some people argue that team sports in school are the most effective way to foster cooperation among children. However, I firmly believe that there are better alternatives such as organizing group projects, and classroom-based activities. On one hand, team sports usually provide children with a structured environment in which cooperation is essential for success. For example, football, volleyball, and basketball require participants to work together in order to win the competition, leading the players to rely on each other. Through these kinds of games, children are likely to learn to communicate, resolve conflicts, and understand the importance of cooperative efforts. That being said, in my opinion, (however) limiting co-operation to sports alone is not a decent idea. Some students who are not athletic and are not interested participating such team sports may not be able to benefit. Instead, activities such as group projects in science and drama clubs are likely to give children a platform to develop their cooperative skills, thus ensuring all the students to be encouraged in the classroom. In addition, activities like debates and speaking clubs which will be team-based are another alternative approach. In such exercises, pupils can exchange and share ideas with each other, contributing to their not only cooperation but also reinforcing academic skills. Depending on each other to partake in such debates, therefore, is beneficial and effective way of encouraging team collaboration. In summary, it is true that team sports can be a great way of teaching children to be cooperative to some extent. Nonetheless, I would argue that there are other team based approached to enforce collaboration among children.
