The flowchart shows the process by which storm water is recycled in Australia. Overall, the process can be outlined by several consecutive steps, which can further be divided into two main stages; purifying and storing the water.
The process begins when there is a rain, which is stored in special drains. Through a pipe, the stored storm water undergoes four successive filtering steps in a water recycling plant, each designed to filter different types of contaminants. The first step is to remove plastic and rubbish, followed by disposing of small particles, after which bacteria and viruses are eliminate. In the last filtering step, molecules and salt is gotten rid of, resulting in cleaner water.
Once the water has passed through this filtration process, it is disinfected by adding chlorine 4 milligrams per liter perhaps in order to make the water pure enough for the consumption. Next, the totally purified water is stored, which is then carried to homes via the pipe, and is ready to consumption.
