The film flopped spectacularly at the box office and would have remained an obscure example of kitsch and bad taste, but… But things turned out differently. The film began to be shown at midnight screenings, and gradually audiences realized that simply sitting still and watching attentively was not quite what “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” was made for. It was much more fun to shout out lines, throw toilet paper at the screen and dance during the musical numbers. Thus the tradition of “participation screenings” was born. Sometimes these screenings turn into a cheerful carnival: viewers come in costume, while cinema staff spray them with water pistols. Let’s try to keep the tradition alive. We won’t spray you with water, but we will hand out props and the necessary instructions, including the traditional lines. Coming in bright glamorous or simply outrageous outfits, singing, dancing and fooling around — all of this is allowed and encouraged! We dedicate this whole spectacle to the memory of the brilliant Tim Curry, actor and rock musician. His role as the mad scientist Frank-N-Furter was perhaps the most iconic role of his life. Four years ago, he suffered a stroke, but continued working as a voice actor. And on August 25, he passed away. But enough sadness: let there be rock-and-roll! *** 🎬 [памяти Тима Карри] Шоу Рокки Хоррора / Джим Шармен, 1975 / на английском языке с русскими и английскими субтитрами Отвязный рок-н-ролльный мюзикл, предтеча панк-рока, весь сюжет которого состоит из сексуальных перверсий, гедонизма, трансвестизма и безумных научных опытов. Этот фильм с треском провалился в прокате и так и остался бы никому не известным образчиком китча и безвкусицы, но… Но вышло по-другому. Фильм стали показывать на ночных сеансах, и постепенно до публики дошло, что просто сидеть на месте и внимательно смотреть – это не совсем то, для чего “Шоу ужасов” был снят. Гораздо веселее выкрикивать реплики, бросаться в экран туалетной бумагой и танцевать во время музыкальных номеров. Так сложилась традиция “показов с соучастием”. Временами такие сеансы превращаются в веселый карнавал: зрители приходят в костюмах, а работники кинотеатра поливают их водой из пистолетиков. 🎉 Попробуем и мы соблюсти традицию. Поливать водой мы вас не будем, но реквизит и необходимые инструкции с традиционными репликами раздадим. Приходить в ярких гламурных или просто вычурных нарядах, петь, танцевать и валять дурака – можно и нужно! Весь этот балаган мы посвящаем памяти блестящего Тима Карри, актера и рок-музыканта. Роль безумного ученого Фрэнк-эн-Фёртера - пожалуй, самая яркая роль его жизни. Четыре года назад он перенес инсульт, но продолжил работать актером озвучивания. А 25 августа его не стало.
