One of my other creative outlets is photography, which I will be sharing more of in the coming weeks. 📷
My intent with my work has always been to create wearable art. My style might not be what is trendy or considered “normal” but it is uniquely mine and that is what matters to me. I enjoy creating pieces that are beautiful but also meaningful in their own right. I have a passion for taking traditional Northern European folk arts such as Hardanger embroidery and medieval German brickwork embroidery and breathing new life into them while still honoring the integrity of the crafts in their classic forms. My embroidery takes countless hours and a lot of patience, but what is particularly special about fiber arts is that most of the same techniques and tools have been used since the time of our earliest ancestors. These time-honored traditions are not merely just art; they are a window to the soul of a people.
In a consumeristic culture that demands quantity over quality and profits over sustainability, I choose to create art that inspires and nourishes the spirit. Creation with purpose is akin to the Divine.
