No one studies 14 hours a day consistently.
And those who try usually burn out before they break through.
From my own UPSC MPSC preparation experience, I realised this the hard way:
clearing the exam is not about extreme hours, but about sustainable systems.
Your real target should be 8β10 quality hours, not heroic numbers.
And quality hours come only when you focus on things beyond just studying.
1. Daily introspection
Self reflection matters more than schedules.
Ask yourself every night:
What did I do today?
What actually moved me closer to the exam?
What was just noise?
2. Preventing burnout is not optional
Take 1β2 days off every month.
Watch your favourite series. Sleep guilt free. Step away.
If you feel enslaved by preparation, your productivity will collapse sooner or later.
3. Health and hobbies are productivity tools
Short physical activity breaks, small hobby windows, a few minutes of silence.
They reset the mind far better than another forced revision.
4. Digital detox and deep work
Digital fasting is no longer optional.
Your brain needs uninterrupted deep work sessions of 1.5β2 hours.
No phone. No notifications. No dopamine shortcuts.
The exam doesnβt reward who studies the longest but who thinks clearly, stays consistent, and survives the journey.
