Dear IFMSA members and SDGs enthusiasts, The United Nations Office of the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth is facilitating a youth-led meaningful youth engagement roadmap to the SDG Summit 2023. As part of this process, your experiences, thoughts and input are needed! As IFMSA, we have the chance to contribute to the consultations by the UN Youth Envoy Office and shape the engagement of youth in the SDGs Summit and in accelerating the progress on SDGs. This consultation aims to gather your views and recommendations on keyframing questions on meaningful youth engagement and the 2030 Agenda. Who can provide input? Every IFMSA member and medical student is welcome to participate. We aim to ensure diverse and representative input from medical students worldwide. We count on you to share as widely as possible with your friends! How can you provide input? Fill out this form by the 30th of August. The form is anonymous and consists of 9 questions on the following topics: - Challenges or barriers youth face when taking action on the SDGs - Key opportunities to improve and strengthen youth leadership in SDG implementation - Engaging youth as core partners in SDG implementation - How can we support the decisions and actions of future generations of engaged youth - Your actions working on/with the SDGs  - Youth-led accountability in tracking progress on the SDGs and ensuring commitments are delivered on How will your input be used? Our involvement brings fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and energy to address the epidemic. Young people, as future leaders, have a unique ability to connect with their peers and communities, helping to break down stigma, promote awareness, and encourage HIV testing and prevention and should have the right to participate in shaping policies, strategies, and interventions related to HIV. Our engagement is vital in ensuring that the response is comprehensive, inclusive, and responsive to the evolving needs of those affected by HIV. By joining forces with established organizations and experts, healthcare students are contributing to reducing new infections, improving treatment access, and ultimately working towards an HIV-free generation. What is COP?  The Conference of Parties, known as COP, is the decision-making body responsible for monitoring and reviewing the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. It brings together the 197 nations and territories – called Parties – signed on to the Framework Convention. What is COP simulation?  Climate Summit is an online role-playing Simulation of the UN climate change negotiations at COP organized by IFMSA EMR and IPSF EMRO. Through the simulation, participants can explore the necessary speed and level of action nations must take to address global climate change. Participants will work together to reach a global agreement that successfully keeps climate change well below two C and aims to stay within 1.5 C, the international goals formally recognized in the Paris climate agreement. During the event, participants gain knowledge on climate science & its impact on health, engage in the drama and tensions of Climate governance , and then reflect on how the experience challenges their assumptions about climate action and global equity. What are the selection criteria?  A total of 40 participants will be selected as such:  • 20 participants from IFMSA (15 from the EMR region and 5 from other regions)  • 20 participants from IPSF (15 from the EMRO region and 5 from other regions)  The selection will follow a standard selection scoring criteria taking into account:  • Motivation  • Experience  • Knowledge of Climate change  • Availability  • Follow up plans • Country Representation  • Gender Representation  However we encourage everyone, regardless of their level of knowledge and experience to apply So what are you waiting for?  Join us in the very first COP simulation!
