Dear SRHR advocates all over the world,  I am delighted to extend an invitation to join a NMO session focused with the theme "Advocating and Collaborating with PLWHA and Key Populations." The event will commence with an introduction to this year's World AIDS Day theme, "Let The Communities Lead." Following the introduction, we will host a talk show featuring NMOs discussing their experiences in advocating and collaborating with PLWHA and Key Populations in NMO initiatives. Your participation would be highly valued in this insightful and engaging session. Background:  As per Program Report AM23, eight initiatives have targeted HIV, AIDS, and STI stigma and discrimination, including discussions with PLWHA and training medical students on sexual history taking. Among the HIV/AIDS and other STIs (HAS) programs, three activities specifically informed PLWHA about treatment options, backed by support like self-testing kits and pill transport. Most HAS programs targeted the general population, followed by students and youth, with only two activities focused on the LGBTQIA+ community and one on Children living with HIV and AIDS. Key populations, like sex workers and men who have sex with men, face a disproportionate HIV/AIDS burden. Despite global progress, there's a critical need for youth collaboration with PLWHA and key populations to comprehensively end AIDSs. A lack of NMO initiatives engaging PLWHA or key populations exacerbates knowledge gaps, contributing to stigma and discrimination. To bridge this divide, SCORA IFMSA plans an NMO sharing session to learn challenges, benefits, and best practices from those who have worked with PLWHA or key populations. Goal: To share lessons learned and challenges of NMO in advocating and collaborating with key population groups on HIV&AIDS issue. When, Where: 16th December 13-15 GMT. The Ottawa 2024 Conference offers unparalleled learning and networking opportunities that will become a highlight in any health professional's career. This year’s conference is focused on “Assessment: Near and Far”.  The conference offers workshops, symposia, ePosters, presentations, and networking opportunities. You can find more information on the Ottawa 2024 website regarding the speakers and program. Ottawa 2024 is offering a cohort of international medical students to attend the conference for free. Partial financial aid/support will also be provided to cover a portion of conference-related expenses such as accommodation, travel expenses, and some meals. The amount will be determined after the conference and be distributed in an equitable manner amongst the IFMSA members of the Student Task Force. In exchange, the chosen students are asked to assist in basic tasks related to helping with practical issues and assisting participants during the conference. When and where? The meeting will happen between the 26th and 28th of February 2024 in Melbourne, Australia. (Please note that the first working day of the Student Task Force for IFMSA members will be February 26. Therefore, the arrival day will be February 25 and the departure day will be February 28.) Objectives of the IFMSA participation in the meeting 1 Support the conference with tasks as part of the Student Task Force 2 Network with external partners relevant to the IFMSA work. 3 Ensure the visibility of the STF on social media during the event. 4 Create advocacy plans and other advocacy-related publications that will be distributed in the meeting. 5 Participate in, contribute to and/or facilitate capacity-building sessions for the Student Task Force. 6 Support the LME in developing logistical aspects of the meeting (finding accommodation, planning social activities, etc) 7 Represent the voice of 1.5 million medical students worldwide on medical education and assessments.  Other tasks of the delegation: participate in reflection sessions and develop advocacy plan. Selection criteria All applications will be evaluated based on the following: • Only students, or those who have the student status within six months before the meeting, are eligible to apply; • Only IFMSA members from active NMOs are eligible to apply; • Experience in the topic of the meeting - state your experience in the field of medical education and assessments as they are the most relevant to the theme.
