🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤 The rise in human population causes a major problem: overpopulation. The continued growth of our species may drain Earth's resources and its “carrying capacity” to the point of human extinction. At the same time, in many developed countries birth rates drop and some are below replacement rates and fear a huge population decline. Is then overpopulation a myth? Overpopulation refers to a population which exceeds its sustainable size within a particular environment or habitat. It describes a situation in which a population in a given ecosystem limit the resources available for survival. Some argue that since people move to cities for better opportunities, they tend to have fewer children. In fact, the UN recently revised downwards its predictions for population growth. Similarly, the worry about agriculture and food consumption is also a disputed fact: some consider there is plenty of food (more arable land used, better technology, more efficiency, etc.), while others assert that, at this rate, there will be no way to feed all the humans on the planet. @ulugbekumidjonov

🔤🔤🔤🔤 7️⃣🔤0️⃣ Laziza first completed my morning Pre-IELTS group and then IELTS, achieving this remarkable feat. Her starting level was intermediate, as far as I remember, and I told her she wouldn't make it. But after 5 months of hard toil, she exceeded my expectations and beat the odds. Kudos! @ulugbekumidjonov

🔤🔤🔤🔤 Should fake news be illegal? Fake news, meaning fabricated news stories, is on the rise, and with it a growing concern about its consequences. But is this concern well-founded? And if so, should it be illegal? For many, fake news undermines vital cooperative networks, which are essential to addressing civilization’s most pressing problems. For instance, rampant misinformation has undermined the response to the Covid-19 outbreak. It also represents a real threat to democracy by spreading political disinformation. However, for others, anti-fake news laws would be an unacceptable violation of freedom of expression. What’s more, it could be open to abuse and misuse by those who have a vested interest in ‘owning’ the truth and influencing public narratives, such as the government. Is making fake news illegal a proportionate response? How do the risks of heavy-handed application of the law weigh against the benefits? @ulugbekumidjonov

YOUR AUTEHNTIC SOURCES 🚀🚀🚀 If you are preparing for exams and you feel lack of topical vocabulary, there might be the odd reason for that. 👉 You just watch Friends or The Big Bang Theory 👉 Your vocabulary sources are limited to Vocabulary books that have a list of words in them 👉 You record vocabulary down and end up just staring at your lists as if in a vegetative state. Those three options have something in common: they are easy! The problem with exams is that we can get tested on a variety of themes from Mongolian Basket Weaving in the 18th Century to how stroking squirrels can cure borderline personality disorder. We are not expected to master all the topical vocabulary related to mammal biology but there are some genetic terms with many themes that will impress the examiner. So what is the solution? Being a Virgo with Mercury rising in the constellation of Complete Bollocks certainly won't help here. We need AUTHENTIC sources. And we need a routine. Here is a list of sources I provide on my IELTS Advanced course. Even unit contains some topics to watch as well as links to articles. Unit 1 Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PteHqCy_x8A (BREAK THE BAD HABITS - Jordan Peterson's Inspiring Speech) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=By_d0rvXHzU (The Trans-Siberian Railway – Documentary) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MuIMqhT8DM (Sleep is your superpower | Matt Walker) Reading: https://www.theguardian.com/theobserver https://www.standard.co.uk/fashion/oxfam-secondhand-september-study-fashion-emissions-a4224351.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/ Unit 2 Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVn4Rhmbv54 (The Seychelles Treasure Islands) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpYgEYdk0tY (Undercover Boss - Postnet S4 EP5 (U.S. TV Series) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hww4dkd408 (Great Sport Relief Bake Off) Reading: -https://time.com/5666055/venice-joker-re%E2%80%A6/ https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/index https://www.nationalgeographic.com/culture/ My guidelines: 📌 It doesn't matter if you're interested in the themes or not. In the exam you don't have a choice. So stop being selective. Move beyond Friends and The Big Bang Theory. 📌 Record "chunks of language". Once you've done the article or video, summarize it out aloud recycling that language you have just jotted down. Maybe even write a small summary. 📌 Less is more! Do one article or video a day. That's enough. Better do one, learn and recycle the language rather than watch/read too many and remember nothing. Credits: Paul's English 🌐 Telegram | Youtube

I am not saying all of this out of spite, but merely from a place of self-criticism. Much too often and for far too long, have I been obsesses with 9.0. So much so that I've let it interefere with my personal life. I've give it all. But there has been no discernable return -- at least from what I think. So, I genuinely believe that I'm better off putting my already exceptional English to use by researching more practical aspects of life more -- such as education, lifestyle, you name it.

English is no longer the desirable, "krutoy" skill anymore. To stay ahead of the curve, it is not sufficient to merely know English. But it is what you've acheived through English that matters most. Imagine who you would be in the US. Would your exceptional language skills set you apart from the average populace?

🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤 #ideageneration Should there be One World State? The world is becoming increasingly connected and interdependent. Globalisation has resulted in economies becoming more intertwined, populations are more culturally diverse due to mass migration to urban areas, and supranational organisations are gaining power. The concept of the isolated nation state seems to be an outdated one for the 21st century. Instead, should all nations come together to form one world state? The success of the European Union demonstrated the ability of a diverse set of nations to come together under a joint goal to achieve prosperity for all its members. A global state would mean a unified approach to development, and all the world’s resources could be combined together for research of new industries and technologies. Moreover, by removing conflicting political motivations, a major barrier to cooperation and joint ventures would be broken down. However, the world contains democracies, autocracies, and everything in between, and so combining all these beliefs into one form of governance may be an impossible task. Moreover, in different places around the world, there are vastly different approaches to fundamental issues such as rights, authority, and religion. If a state is supposed to represent the views of its people, would it ever be possible to combine the interests and beliefs of 7 billion people into a coherent and representative set of policies? Would a single-state world provide better social, economic, and political opportunities for its citizens? Or is there an inherent value to the nation state, and the unique values and beliefs it can represent? This discussion will look at the advantages and disadvantages of all nations coming together to form one world state. @ulugbekumidjonov

I learned a really cool phrase you guys can use in Speaking. "He's a salesman and a half", which means he is so good that he has an additional half of a salesperson. Example: "Wow, Jim managed to close that difficult deal? He really is a salesman and a half" Try using it in a sentence of your own. 👇 My example: All of my students know that I'm a teacher and half, right?
