A magnetic storm of the highest level 5 may occur on Earth for the first time in 20 years In 3 days, from May 7 to 9, the Sun threw 4 plasma clouds of exceptional size towards our planet. Part of the emissions on the way to the planet should merge into a single, even larger object, which, according to calculations, will hit the Earth's magnetic field tonight (Friday night). The consolidated forecast of world centers puts the storm at the peak of impact at a level of at least G4.33. With a 15% chance, for the first time since 2005, a magnetic storm on Earth could reach the highest level of G5.

Is it appropriate to trust machines with life and death decisions in the context of war? Let's discuss the use of large language models (LLM) in the military. LLMs, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot, have demonstrated a high ability to mimic human conversations, which has led to discussions about their possible use in warfare. Some researchers point to the potential of these technologies to enable discrimination and the ethical use of force, but others worry that they could distract people from making decisions about the most important matters of life and death. The US Department of Defense is exploring military applications of AI, including using the LLM for war games, planning and administrative tasks. However, issues such as bias and hallucinations in LLM applications, as well as security vulnerabilities and inadvertent disclosure of sensitive information, have been identified. LLMs can be helpful, but their actions are difficult to predict and they can make dangerous, escalating decisions. Therefore, the military must limit these technologies when they are used to make important decisions, especially in combat situations. The use of LLM in the military field must be balanced, considering ethical standards and human control. It is necessary to understand the limitations of the technology and develop ethical principles for the use of AI in the military sphere. https://www.foreignaffairs.com/united-states/why-military-cant-trust-ai

The US has betrayed Israel and stopped supplying ammunition The official reason is to prevent the genocide in the city of Rafah. The real reason is to prevent Israel from becoming too strong to pursue an independent policy in the Middle East.

Repost fromΒ Du Rove's Channel
🀫 A story shared by Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, uncovered that the current leaders of Signal, an allegedly β€œsecure” messaging app, are activists used by the US state department for regime change abroad πŸ₯· πŸ₯Έ The US government spent $3M to build Signal’s encryption, and today the exact same encryption is implemented in WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Google Messages and even Skype. It looks almost as if big tech in the US is not allowed to build its own encryption protocols that would be independent of government interference πŸ•β€πŸ¦Ί πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ An alarming number of important people I’ve spoken to remarked that their β€œprivate” Signal messages had been exploited against them in US courts or media. But whenever somebody raises doubt about their encryption, Signal’s typical response is β€œwe are open source so anyone can verify that everything is all right”. That, however, is a trick 🀑 πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ Unlike Telegram, Signal doesn’t allow researchers to make sure that their GitHub code is the same code that is used in the Signal app run on users’ iPhones. Signal refused to add reproducible builds for iOS, closing a GitHub request from the community. And WhatsApp doesn’t even publish the code of its apps, so all their talk about β€œprivacy” is an even more obvious circus trick πŸ’€ πŸ›‘ Telegram is the only massively popular messaging service that allows everyone to make sure that all of its apps indeed use the same open source code that is published on Github. For the past ten years, Telegram Secret Chats have remained the only popular method of communication that is verifiably private πŸ’ͺ
