Head of Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov made a statement on the discovery of a lab with chemical equipment on the ground floor of a destroyed building in an industrial zone near Avdeevka. A semi-industrial rotary evaporator, a filtering exhaust system, chemical reactors, carbon dioxide bottles, and shelving units with lab glassware and chemicals were found in the lab along with US-made gas masks and a Polish-made protective suit. An in-depth study of found materials by the chemical analytical lab of the Russian Defence Ministry showed the presence of sodium cyanide, sulfuric acid, and trace amounts of cyanide in the samples. The presence of these chemicals clearly indicates that the discovered lab was producing toxic agents. The capacity of such a lab unit operated by staff of 2 or 3 people is at least 3 kg/day, while the lethal inhalation dose for this group of toxic substances is very low, being only 70–80mg per human.
