| 5 | Lyft driver showed up in a different car than described. Strong weed smell and an open bottle of tequila in the cup holder. | 144 |

| 7 | California Mommy Warbucks: So... your wife is a homemaker? What does she do all day?
Me: She teaches our children. She runs the house. We were both raised with full-time mothers, and it was what we wanted. No day care worker can love a child so well as a parent.
California Mommy Warbucks: I get that. My mother also stayed home, but women have just as much to contribute as men in the workplace! I am glad women have been liberated from the boredom of homemaking.
Mr. Warbucks: Young people are having fewer children, and finding it much harder to get married.
California Mommy Warbucks: Women don't have to get married or have children. They can find complete satisfaction in their careers.
Mr. Warbucks: But, the birthrate is declining. This is a long-term threat to the standard of living, and many young people are lonely and unhappy.
California Mommy Warbucks: Everywhere women are educated, the birth rate drops. That's all we need to know.
Me: Women have always had the special power of choosing if their civilization will continue.
California Mommy Warbucks: That's right! Women are powerful!
Me: I think the story of the Koreas is totally weird and unexpected. North Korea looks bonkers: repressive, poor, personality cults. But, they have a replacement birth rate. South Korea has less than one child per woman, and is facing apocalyptic population loss. It turns out North Korea has a future.
California Mommy Warbucks: What does that mean?
Me: The future belongs to the children. | 141 |
| 8 | California Mommy Warbucks: So, how do you justify your plans to send your children to private school or homeschooling? That's so elitist.
Me: I worked as a substitute teacher and saw total chaos. Random kids insulted and defied me. I spent all my time trying to restore order, and resolved I never wanted to work there or send my children there. My wife was assaulted regularly by 4 year-olds when she taught in the public schools.
California Mommy Warbucks: Our schools in Palo Alto are nothing like that. We are very enlightened and orderly, and we teach them Chinese.
Me: It is a different proposition for us proles.
California Mommy Warbucks: We care very much about the environment and fighting climate change. We teach our children how to save the world with solar panels.
Me: What will you do about India?
California Mommy Warbucks: That's different. We used to burn all kinds of things when we were developing, and then we found out how dangerous it was and how it caused cancer.
Me: New Delhi knows that burning used tires is bad for air quality and health. They don't care about air quality or health. | 144 |
| 9 | Future Fort Bagby. I will need knights, thanes, and serfs. Rents will start at one hog per year plus a set of hours hacking to block our location from government satellites. | 138 |
