I'm grateful for everyone who showed up yesterday. While I was in lock-up I heard in the very last second before my call was cut that 300 of you showed up. I wish I could have spoken with all of you.
During this time, we were shackled, hands to ankles. We were put in solidarity cells. We were there for mere hours, but death row prisoners have been kept there for even ten years, isolated from one another and the rest of the world.
Dayana from Mums for Palestine SG was not allowed to pump, despite our lawyer putting the request to the judge. She gave birth four months ago. Please read what she wrote about the experience of lock-up here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DdFLCKLk9Bw/
This morning, I'm thinking of Aysar Safi and all the Palestinian martyrs honoured via the flying of kites and laying of shoes. I'm thinking of Rosman, Masoud, Syed, the 19th person the PAP government killed this morning, and all the victims of the "war on drugs." May you all rest in power.
My heart fills with sadness and rage that you don't get to be a part of this fight anymore, but rest assured that we keep on going in your names.
Free Palestine. And free Singapore for the US war and imperial machinery. We shall all be free some day.
See everyone at the State Courts, Court 4B at 10am this morning.

Dayana, myself, and three others are facing charges for Palestine solidarity actions. It would mean a lot for you to join us in solidarity at the State Courts, Court 4B, this Wednesday (9 Sep), 10am! ✊❤️
This morning, around fifty of us joined Jolovan at the same court as he faces a total of ten charges, most of which for candlelight vigils for death row prisoners. It was energising to be amongst fellow citizens, coming together in strength and perseverance.
From Changi Prison to Palestine, we say: No more blood on our hands! Stop the killing of vulnerable drug trade users / workers and Palestinians. And stop the prosecution of those seeking justice! We remain steadfast and strong in our fight, until all of us are free.

⚠️ [TALLY: $0/$700] BY 10TH SEPTEMBER!
A rental flat resident in our network has been fined $700 by HSA. Please take the time to read Nora's (not her real name) story, and share + contribute to the fundraiser.
Who are these fines really protecting? Are they truly making us safer, or are they measures to punish the poor?
What are the repercussions when authorities refuse to take into consideration the totality of a person's circumstances?
Support, Don't Punish.

"Meanwhile, Tay faces nine charges in the new proceedings. They highlighted the fifth charge, which concerns leading the chant, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”, at a private event.
TOC understands that the indoor Palestine-focused event, Steadfast for Palestine, was held on 2 February 2024.
According to Tay, the authorities’ position is that the phrase supports the elimination of the Jewish state of Israel. Tay said the charge characterises the phrase as prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony between racial groups and likely to disrupt public tranquillity.
Tay disputed the position and said Singapore’s Government should instead be charged under Section 298A of the Penal Code 1871. They said the Government should be held accountable for what he described as its complicity in the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and its continued economic, military, diplomatic and political ties with Israel. Tay also said: “Free Palestine and free Singapore from being used as part of the US war machine.”
AADP said members of the public could attend the proceedings in solidarity with the two activists."

TLDR The state is pissing me off!!!! And your solidarity and shared rage and desire to do something have been energising. What'd feel most supportive for me is for you to come to court, and invite all your friends, family, co-workers etc. to come with!
See y'all next Mon (for Jo's) and Wed (for mine and a couple of others'). ✊❤️

The PAP government hanged 2 men this morning. These are the 17th and 18th executions this year. May they rest in power.

Wage reforms pushed by IMF and WBG to achieve “competitiveness” amongst countries in the Global South have created poverty wages, through race-to-the-bottom policies, tying wages to quotas, production targets, the market, including a 2-tiered minimum wage system: a floor wage below the minimum wage to begin, and higher amount of minimum wage based on productivity. This has resulted in wages stagnation, and erosion, especially during intense crisis. Despite increasing productivity of the workers, wages remain meagre, ensuring more profits for the financial oligarchs behind transnational and finance corporations.
The PGC against IMF-WB will be discussing these topics further on our upcoming webinar on August 29th at 8.00pm (SG Time) titled “Breaktime: Working Peoples Townhall Against the IMF-WBG”.
