Oxford postdoc De : Anjali Hinch <[email protected]> I am recruiting a post-doc to work on statistical genomics in my lab at Oxford University. The project is on understanding the mechanisms underlying mutation and recombination in DNA and their impacts on human health and human evolution. It will involve developing and applying statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to genomic data from population cohorts as well as experimental data from cutting-edge assays, including CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing and single-cell sequencing. CMCB is recruiting two more assistant professors to augment a program centred around cellular interfaces at the Warwick Medical School. See web links below for these posts (Research and Teaching and Research focussed positions) at the Centre for Mechanochemical Biology (CMCB), an interdisciplinary centre hosted by Warwick Medical School’s Biomedical Sciences Division with faculty from multiple departments cross campus, including Physics, Chemistry and Life Science. CMCB has been exceptionally successful in studying the role of mechanics at the scale of single molecules, cells and tissues with my joining CMCB early in 2024, I hope to bring researchers who are interested in studying the cellular interface to add a new dimension to the exciting scientific ecosystem at CMCB. The successful candidate will contribute to the formation of cross-departmental cluster of excellence to further strengthen the activities of CMCB, a pre-eminent centre in the UK for research into the roles of molecular motors and mechanics in cell and developmental biology, which already has Cross, McAinsh, Straube, Balasubramanian, Saunders, Köster, Turner and Royle working in these areas. The successful candidate will establish a globally recognised programme in mechanochemical biology, focusing on cellular interfaces at all scales of biological organisation. They will bring interdisciplinary experimental and/or theoretical approaches to bear on their question of interest, and/or develop new technologies or tools that enhance this research area. They (necessary for the Research and Teaching post) will undertake undergraduate and post graduate teaching and engage in administration to develop their own career and profile supporting the work of the department and developing and enhancing its reputation, both internally and externally to the University.
