Yesternight I stayed up till 2 am to finish the last 20 chapters of Land of the Lustrous, and I regret my scarce 5h of sleep very little A post-human land of immortal, agender, ace gem femmes fighting against immortal, ethereal, Buddha-like moon people attacking and kidnapping the gems for nebulous reasons, we follow Phosphophyllite. Too fragile to fight, not intelligent enough to do research, with no interest other than wanting to be useful to their peers, Phos is aimless and unsatisfied with their existence. Until they start to forcibly change themself. This is a story of becoming what you wanted to be for your whole life, and then, once you do, hating every part of it. The ending was perfect for the story and message it has, it left me void for a bit and lulled me to sleep with the philosophical ramifications 8/10 great manga
