For the series #WhoAsked, my unrequested reviews of Doctor Who Series 14, I present to you
Episode 1: Space Babies
● Review in short ●
6/10, adequate but annoying at times. Not worthy
● My Thoughts in Full ●
They start by quickly catching up Ruby on the important bits of Doctor Lore (Gallifrey being gone, he being the last Time Lord, the TARDIS etc) which is a great decision imo since those aspects were thoroughly explored in previous seasons
It's RTD so you bet there are gags all the way through, some land better than others but that's expected
The actual plot of the episode is... not the most revolutionary but it sets a trend with Church on Ruby Road (Christmas special 2023) about stories and fairy tales, which I'm curious to see how will be explored
That being said, it is not a great start but it's not bad either. The scenes with the Babies are a little weird and long, the resolution of the conflict is questionable and some elements don't make much sense if you think about them too much (at least in my case). This is a better version of Love and Monsters (s02e10), which I didn’t hate but I know the fandom is critical of. Also, some performances were a little weak at times imo
But many interesting concept were introduced here so I'm hopeful. Also, I heard episode 2 The Devil's Chord is reaaally good so I'll watch it ASAP u.u❤ 3👍 1🎉 1
