Paleolithic breakdown of a Late Upper Paleolithic individual from Satsurblia Cave, Georgia.
Genetic ancestry:
~54% Upper Paleolithic Georgia (Dzudzuana Cluster) ~21% Ancient North Eurasian (AG3) ~25% Excess Basal/Early Eurasian (Ranis13 + Mota) P = 0.0548
The individual was male, belonging to mtDNA haplogroup K3 and Y-haplogroup J1b (J-FT34521). He was directly dated to 11,461-11,225 calBCE, and assigned to the Caucasus Hunter-Gatherer (CHG) genetic cluster.
Hirisplex analysis suggests this individual likely had brown eyes and dark/black hair.

Ancestry modeling of PM1 Woman (Peștera Muierii 1, Romania, ~34kya)
~87% Sunghir-like Upper Paleolithic (West Eurasian Core) ~13% Bacho Kiro–related Initial Upper Paleolithic (East Eurasian Core) p = 0.144
Discovered in 1952 in Muierii Cave (SW Romania), PM1 is one of the earliest modern human women known from Europe. The remains were associated with Aurignacian tools, placing her in the Early Upper Paleolithic.
PM1 is a mosaic individual, primarily Sunghir-like, but with a significant Bacho Kiro–related ancestry signal. qp4ratio estimates ~2% Neanderthal ancestry
Directly dated to 32,735–32,181 calBCE (29940 ± 167 BP)
PM1 carried mtDNA haplogroup U6

New paper published in Nature: "Whole-genome ancestry of an Old Kingdom Egyptian"
Researchers sequenced the whole genome of an adult male excavated at Nuwayrat, radiocarbon dated to 2855–2570 calBCE, shortly after the unification of Egypt. The body was buried in a ceramic pot within a rock-cut tomb, likely aiding in the preservation of his DNA.
Genetic analysis indicates that the majority of his ancestry derives from a combination of North African Neolithic and Mesopotamian/Levantine sources.
He is predicted to have had brown eyes, brown hair, and dark to black skin pigmentation.

The Funnel Beaker Culture (FBC) in Denmark was a significant Neolithic farming culture that thrived from approximately 3950 BC to 2800 BC. It succeeded the Ertebølle culture and was characterized by the use of distinctive funnel-necked beaker ceramics, hence its name. The culture introduced agriculture and animal husbandry to the region, replacing the previous hunter-gatherer lifestyle. People lived in longhouses and built megalithic tombs such as dolmens and passage graves. The Funnel Beaker Culture was eventually replaced by the Single Grave culture around 2800 BC.

Genetic Breakdown of Evensås Man (NEO260)

The individual was directly dated to 4232–3982 cal BCE and 3963–3781 cal BCE (rescorr), placing him in the Early Neolithic. However, no indications of a Neolithic diet were observed in the isotope values.
He belonged to Y-Haplogroup I-Z26435 (I2a2a2a1~) and mt-Haplogroup R1b1.
Discovered in 1930 at Evensås, Skaftö 85, Bohuslän, Sweden. He was an adult male estimated to be 20–30 years old at the time of death.

Artistic Reconstruction of a male of the Bronze Age Fatyanovo culture. They were the result of an early eastward migration of the Corded Ware after admixing with the Globular Amphora culture (from which their pottery shows influences). They are the earliest group to have y haplogroup R1a-Z93 which is common in modern Indo-Iranian speakers.
They lived in the forests of western Russia and had an economy of pastoralism however it was not as mobile as the Yamnaya. Weapons included the classic CWC stone axe but later also ones made of metal. Bears seemed to hold importance to them as some axes had the shape of a bear head carved into it along with ornaments made of bear claws and teeth. They later would develop the Abashevo culture which is the ancestor of the Sintashta and the Srubnaya.

The Dnieper–Donets culture is often viewed as a broader cultural context that encompasses the Mariupol culture, also known as Mariupol-type cultures.
This culture, primarily located in the steppe and forest-steppe regions north of the Black Sea, is characterized by complex burial practices and social organization.
The Dnieper–Donets people exhibited diverse ancestry, with notable connections to both Western and Eastern hunter-gatherers, along with minor Caucasus hunter gatherer-related ancestry.

🇱🇻🇱🇻The skull of a man belonging to the hunter-fisher Kunda culture in Mesolithic Latvia. Baltic HGs apparently had a religious use for the amber in their region and associated it with the passage to the afterlife. Baltic amber would play an important role in later European prehistory and in historical migrations. The men at the archaeological site of Zvejnieks had yDNA haplogroups R1b, I2 and Q. They were on a genetic cline between WHG and EHG, with a shift towards the former. 🇱🇻🇱🇻

Genetic breakdowns for the Early Neolithic Hunter-Gatherers of Karavaikha
The Karavaikha site, located west of Lake Vozhe in the Vologda Oblast of NW Russia, is notable for containing some of the earliest evidence of pottery usage in Europe. Pottery likely spread from further east, with the earliest known evidence in Europe linked to the Elshanka culture of the Middle Volga region. This innovation appears to have spread rapidly westward along the Volga River, potentially reaching Karavaikha as early as the mid to late 7th millennium BC.
Genetically, the hunter-gatherers of Karavaikha seem to represent a continuation of the earlier Veretye culture, albeit with a minor increase in ANE ancestry. This increase is possibly connected to gene flow from pottery-using WSHG/EHGs from further east. Karavaikha samples exhibit strong genetic affinities to Veretye culture individuals, such as those found at Peschanitsa and Minino, as well as the Sidelkino HG from Samara.
