তবে বিষয়টা শুধু নতুন একটা domain name পাওয়ার মধ্যে সীমাবদ্ধ নয়।
Telegram বলছে, users সরাসরি Telegram-এর মাধ্যমেই interactive website তৈরি ও host করতে পারবেন, এমনকি সম্ভবত শুধু একটি prompt দিয়েই।
অর্থাৎ, traditional hosting বা web development-এর কোনো বিশেষ skill ছাড়াই নিজের personal website বা online presence তৈরি করা অনেক সহজ হয়ে যেতে পারে।
সহজ করে বললেঃ আপনার Telegram identity-ই হয়ে যেতে পারে আপনার website।
এখন আপনি Telegram-এ নিজের username share করেন, তারপর কাউকে অন্য কোনো website বা platform-এ পাঠাতে হয়।
কিন্তু ভবিষ্যতে আপনার একটা permanent web address থাকতে পারে, যেমন alex.gram, যেটা সরাসরি আপনার Telegram presence-এর সঙ্গে যুক্ত থাকবে।
আর এই উদ্যোগ existing domain market-এর জন্যও বড় প্রভাব ফেলতে পারে।
Telegram-এর announcement-এর পর কিছু existing domain holder-এর মধ্যে ইতিমধ্যেই উদ্বেগ তৈরি হয়েছে। তাদের আশঙ্কা, .gram ecosystem সফল হলে কিছু traditional domain-এর value বা relevance কমে যেতে পারে।
কেউ কেউ এটাকে Telegram-এর TON ecosystem এবং সাম্প্রতিক Gram-related branding changes-এর সঙ্গেও যুক্ত করছেন।
তবে ICANN যদি আবেদনটি অনুমোদন করে, তাহলে আসল গল্পটা সম্ভবত আরও বড় হবে।
Telegram শুধু একটা messaging app-এর সঙ্গে নতুন domain extension যোগ করতে চাইছে না।
তারা এমন একটা platform তৈরি করতে চাইছে, যেখানে আপনার identity, website এবং পুরো online presence সবকিছু একই জায়গায় থাকবে।
