| 9 | earlier today, ustaz irwan hadi shared the story of Abu Lahab, & the reflection behind it really stayed with me.
in sahih al bukhari, there is a narration regarding Abu Lahab receiving some relief after his death because of his happiness when Rasulullah ﷺ was born. Abu Lahab was someone who rejected & opposed Rasulullah ﷺ, & Allah Himself revealed regarding him, تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ, “Perish the hands of Abu Lahab, & perish he.” yet even someone whose rejection was condemned so clearly in the Quran is reported to have received some relief because of a moment of happiness at the birth of Rasulullah ﷺ.
this reflection is beautifully expressed by Imam Shams al-Din in Mawrid al-Sadi fi Mawlid al-Hadi. He writes, “If this was a disbeliever, whose condemnation was revealed in the Quran, yet it is reported that his punishment is lightened every monday because of his happiness with Rasullah ﷺ, then what do you think of the servant who spent his entire life rejoicing in Rasulullah ﷺ & died upon tawhid?”
if even Abu Lahab, despite his disbelief & opposition towards Rasulullah ﷺ, could receive a moment of relief because he was once happy at the birth of the Prophet ﷺ, then what more for those whose hearts genuinely love Rasulullah ﷺ, who spend their lives remembering him, sending selawat upon him, following his sunnah & rejoicing in him?
it makes me realise that our remembrance of Rasulullah ﷺ should not be limited to one day or one occasion. how could we ever put a limit on remembering someone whom we love so deeply? everyday should be an opportunity to renew that love, through selawat, through following his sunnah, through trying to embody his character & through keeping him close in our hearts.
may Allah make our love for Rasulullah ﷺ a source of barakah in our lives, protect our families through it & allow us to carry this love until our final breath. may we never become distant from him & may our love, longing & attachment to Rasulullah ﷺ only continue to grow. & may Allah gather us with him in the Hereafter, with hearts full of love for him. | 466 |
| 10 | Haya is more than modesty in how we dress or carry ourselves.
It is a modesty of the heart, knowing our place before Allah, guarding the heart from arrogance, seeking sincerity & remembering that our worth is not found in being seen by people, but in being known by Him.
It is reflected in our character, in gentleness, humility, dignity, patience & the way we speak to & treat others.
And it is reflected in our actions, in what we choose to do when no one is watching, in how we conduct ourselves & in the choices we make out of awareness of Allah.
Haya is not simply something we wear. It is something we nurture within, until it shapes who we are & how we live.

| 12 | A Journey Towards Righteousness…
Know that every effort we make to become better & more righteous is a sign that our hearts are longing to meet the Owner of Jannah. The journey towards becoming a better person may not always be easy. There will be moments when we stumble, feel tired or question whether we are doing enough. But every step we take towards Allah, no matter how small, is precious.
Perhaps the struggle to guard our hearts, improve our prayers, lower our gaze, speak kindly & leave what displeases Him is not merely a test. It is also a reminder that our hearts are yearning for something far greater, to be among those whom Allah is pleased with.
So keep striving, even when no one sees. Keep returning to Allah, even after falling. Keep choosing obedience, even when it is difficult.
Because one day, we hope that all these quiet sacrifices will lead us to the most beautiful destination, not just becoming a better version of ourselves in this dunya, but reaching Jannah, where we can finally meet the One our hearts have been longing for all along. 🤍

| 19 | 🌱 Important Takeaways: The Power of Sincere Intention
- Intention is more important than the action itself. The value of an action is determined by what is in the heart behind it. A small action with a sincere intention can be greater than a huge action done for the wrong reasons.
- Learn to renew your intention. Before doing something, ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?” Our daily routines, eating, sleeping, studying, working, exercising, can become acts of worship when we attach the right intention to them.
- Ikhlas means doing something sincerely for Allah. Ikhlas is to worship & obey Allah for His sake alone, without seeking praise, recognition or another worldly reward.
- Ikhlas is a lifelong journey. It is not something we achieve once & never struggle with again. We constantly need to purify our intentions & check our hearts.
- There is a difference between niyyah & ikhlas.
- Niyyah → understanding what we intend to do & why we are doing it.
- Ikhlas → ensuring that the intention is sincerely directed towards Allah.
- Not every thought in our heart is counted as an action. We may have thoughts or intentions to do something, but if we stop ourselves before acting upon them, Allah knows what is in our hearts. There is a distinction between a passing thought, a genuine intention & actually carrying out the action.
- Before, during & after an action, check your niyyah. Ask yourself, Before: Why am I doing this? During: Is my intention still for Allah? After: Am I seeking praise or recognition for what I did?
- Be careful of riya’. Even a good deed can be affected when we start wanting people to see, praise or admire us for it. The goal is to do good even when nobody knows about it.
- Productivity should have a purpose. Our energy, time & focus are valuable. We should direct them towards beneficial goals rather than simply trying to “be productive” for the sake of productivity.
- Make ordinary life meaningful through intention. Something as simple as eating, sleeping or going to work can carry reward when our intention is connected to Allah, for example, eating so that we have strength to worship Him or sleeping so that we can wake up & fulfil our responsibilities.
- Allah looks beyond the outward appearance. Two people can perform the exact same action, yet their rewards can be completely different because of what is in their hearts.
- Memorising Qur’an or gaining knowledge isn’t the end goal. The knowledge we gain should transform our hearts and actions. The real question is not only “How much do I know?” but “What am I doing with what I know?”
🤍 The biggest lesson
Don’t just focus on doing more. Focus on doing things for the right reason.
A person can have a lot of deeds but little sincerity, while another person may have seemingly small deeds that are incredibly valuable because they were done purely for Allah.
“The deeds are judged by their intentions.”
So before asking “How much have i done?” perhaps ask:
“For whom am I doing this?”
“Why am I doing this?”
“Would I still do it if nobody knew?”
That is where the real work of the heart begins. | 694 |
| 20 | In Islam, love is not something to be rushed, played with or built on temporary feelings. Taaruf is about getting to know someone with a sincere intention for marriage, while keeping Allah at the centre of the journey. It is about asking not only, “Do i like this person?” but also, “Will this person bring me closer to Allah, & can we build a marriage that pleases Him?” True love in Islam is not measured by how long two people can date, but by how sincerely we protect one another’s hearts, honour boundaries, involve our families & seek Allah’s guidance throughout the process. If someone is written for you, you will not need to compromise your deen to keep them. What is meant for you will come with peace, clarity & barakah, not constant confusion or a relationship that pulls you away from Allah.
