Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least. When you don't have clarity in your purpose, you don't know the difference between an opportunity and a distraction.
One of my favorite water cooler facts is for most of history, the word "priority" was singular. To have a bunch of priori-"ties" defeats the point of setting them.

Chess Fundamentals by José Raúl Capablanca

Real life is messy. We all have limitations, we all make mistakes, which means, hey, glass half-full, we all have a lot in common. And the more we try to understand one another, the more exceptional each of us will be. But we have to try.

+ But... How can you trust me again? - Trust is like a dam. It's gonna leak sometimes. We just gotta patch it up.

You need to put in the hours; no matter how, one way or the other.
“ … I like to use the term 'sherpa': I can show you the path up the hill and try to carry some of your stuff for you, but I can't take the steps for you,”

You don't become great by constantly chasing the result. You become great by repeatedly doing the things that produce the result. Vitality's story also shows the paradox of elite performance: once you become extremely successful, maintaining that success can become harder than achieving it in the first place. Champions should be able to maintain the same discipline at the beginning of the season as they do immediately before a final.

You can optimize every meal, track every biomarker, follow every protocol. But if you're miserable doing it, you're missing the point. Studies on the longest-lived populations share strong social connections, a sense of purpose, low chronic stress, and lots of movement. None of them were counting macros or hyper-obsessing about their health. You don't need to be shredded to live long and happy.

Solomon’s Paradox is a psychological phenomenon where people are significantly better at reasoning wisely about other people’s problems than their own. Because we aren't clouded by personal emotions and self-interest when looking at others, we can offer objective advice, yet we struggle to make sound decisions in identical personal situations.
