🇵🇭 Philippine court issues arrest warrant for Vice President Sara Duterte
A Philippine court has issued an arrest warrant for Vice President Sara Duterte over alleged “grave threats” linked to her 2024 remarks about the possible assassination of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Duterte made the comments during an online news conference in November 2024, saying the three would be killed if she herself were assassinated.
The Quezon City Regional Trial Court set bail at 120,000 pesos ($1,900) for each of the three charges. Her lawyer said Duterte would not evade the law and would continue pursuing legal remedies.
The vice president is also facing an impeachment trial in parliament.

🇧🇩🇨🇳🇵🇰 Bangladesh’s China-Pakistan shift raises questions over India ties
Bangladesh’s proposed purchase of up to 20 Chinese J-10CE fighter jets and its expressed interest in the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement are drawing attention amid strained relations with India.
The J-10CE deal, reportedly worth around $2.2–2.23 billion, remains subject to final terms. Bangladesh has also shown renewed interest in defence cooperation with Pakistan, including possible discussions over the JF-17.
At the same time, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s planned visit to India has stalled, adding to speculation about Dhaka’s changing foreign-policy direction.
However, the NDTV opinion article argues that these moves do not necessarily mean Bangladesh has chosen sides. Dhaka’s constitutional commitment to non-alignment, economic ties with India and interests in the Gulf and Bay of Bengal could limit deeper involvement in any military bloc.

That poor woman.
Three masked men broke into an 83-year-old woman’s home in Hayes, west London, while she was asleep.
Security footage shows her waking up to find the intruders already inside, with little she could do but sit there and watch as they searched the place.
The men reportedly spent around two minutes grabbing £500 in cash and jewelry, with one of them carrying a weapon, before fleeing.
Thankfully, they left her physically unharmed.
Police arrived too late, after the burglars had already gone, and are now trying to identify them.

🇨🇩🇮🇱 DR Congo reiterates plan to move embassy to Jerusalem
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has reaffirmed plans to relocate its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem following President Félix Tshisekedi’s visit to Israel.
The move revives a commitment first announced in 2023. The DRC and Israel said they would take steps toward relocating the embassy, further strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Most countries maintain their embassies around Tel Aviv, arguing that Jerusalem’s final status should be determined through Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. Israel claims the entire city as its capital, while Palestinians seek occupied East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state.
The United States moved its embassy to Jerusalem in 2018, followed by several other countries.

🇦🇷🇬🇧 Milei vows tougher sanctions over Falklands oil project
Argentine President Javier Milei has announced tougher measures against companies involved in oil exploration around the Falkland Islands (Malvinas), escalating Buenos Aires’ long-running sovereignty dispute with the UK.
Milei said Argentina will target not only oil companies but also their shareholders, directors and suppliers, while proposing legislation to strengthen penalties for unauthorized operations in waters Argentina claims as its own.
The move specifically targets the Sea Lion offshore project, operated by Israel-based Navitas Petroleum and UK-based Rockhopper Exploration. Milei said the project could begin oil development in the coming months, with production planned for 2028.
He also announced plans to strengthen Argentina’s southern defenses, including a new naval base in Tierra del Fuego, while sending a national sovereignty bill to Congress.

Well, that escalated fast.
A cat wandering around a mosque in Erzurum slipped between a worshipper’s feet during evening prayers — and the guy responded by kicking it so hard it flew straight into the imam’s head.
Yes, really.
Thankfully, the cat was later reported to be fine.
The man, meanwhile, was detained after prosecutors opened an investigation under Turkey’s Animal Protection Law.
Imagine getting arrested because you rage-kicked a cat during prayer.

🇷🇺💥 LAVROV: "FUHRER URSULA" & THE WEST'S DRIVE TO DIVIDE EURASIA
At the Eastern Economic Forum, Russia's top diplomat delivered a blistering assessment of Western policy.
🗣️ "They want to dictate, not negotiate." Diplomacy has been replaced by sanctions.
💥 "Fuhrer Ursula" – Lavrov's name for EU Commission President von der Leyen, accusing her of centralising power and forcing Europeans to "suffer" for Ukraine.
🧠 "Neo-Nazi spirit" in Europe – singled out Germany, saying the "metastases of Nazism" are re-emerging.
💸 EU "shot itself in the foot and in the head" – abandoning Russian energy was "self-humiliation." Russia will not "beg" for sanctions to be lifted.
⏳ West wants to "freeze" Ukraine conflict – not resolve it – with NATO "stabilisation forces" deployed to Kiev-controlled territory.

🇪🇺🇸🇰 SLOVAKIA STANDS ALONE – Blocks 12-Month EU Russia Sanctions Extension
Bratislava has refused to endorse a 12‑month extension of the EU's individual sanctions package against Russia, delivering a blow to Brussels' push for longer‑term unity.
🛑 Slovakia is the sole holdout against extending the sanctions for 12 months.
⏳ The measures expire on September 15 – the EU had hoped to avoid repeated six‑month renewals.
🔄 The six‑month cycle was originally a compromise to placate former Hungarian PM Orban, who used deadlines to pressure Brussels.
💬 An EU diplomat: "Apparently, they have some objections. I think we have heard them before."
