Repost from Roscongress Direct
SPIEF 2023 hosted 17,000 participants, and this year there will be even more — SPIEF Director Alexey Valkov 🌐 Interest in participating in the forum is growing, in large part due to SPIEF’s off-site presentations. Since November 2023, such events have been held in Turkey, India, Algeria, and South Africa. Before the end of the month, presentations will take place in Latin America. Here are a few insights from Alexey Valkov’s speech to representatives of diplomatic missions at the Russian MFA: 🔹 At SPIEF 2023 over 900 agreements were signed worth almost four trillion rubles. Actually, this sum is larger because the statistics do not account for agreements under NDA. 🔹 On 5 June, the SME Forum will take place. The participation cost is significantly lower than in other business program events, making the platform more accessible and inclusive. 🔹 SPIEF offers virtually limitless opportunities for PR and promotion: press zones, interview platforms, video content broadcasts on screens, and a large press center. Last year, around 4,000 journalists covered the forum, and some media outlets even set up their own studios on-site. 🔹 The SPIEF 2024 exhibition is fully booked, and installation will begin in a few weeks. 🔹 As in previous years, the culmination of the St. Petersburg Seasons Festival will be a concert on Palace Square. The tentative date is 7 June. @RoscongressDirect

New meanings are born, and strategies are discussed at SPIEF The forum contributes to strengthening business and diplomatic ties between countries, noted Alexander Stuglev, CEO of the Roscongress Foundation, during a briefing at the Russian MFA. In her turn, Head of the International and Regional Cooperation Directorate, Alexandra Ogneva, spoke about the program planned for foreign delegations on the sidelines of SPIEF 2024: 🔹 On 5 June, the Day of International SME Cooperation will take place — a new format that is being implemented for the second year in a row. It will be dedicated to cooperation between SMEs from Russia and foreign countries. 🔹 On the same day, the Russia—India Business Forum will be held, along with a business event between Russia and Africa, and several bilateral round tables with Brazil, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. 🔹 On other days of the forum, several more business dialogues are planned with various countries, including China, Iran, and Oman. @RoscongressDirect

St. Petersburg business program for SPIEF to be approved by 20 May Currently, the city is actively preparing for the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Improvement works are underway in the areas close to the main event venues and the thoroughfares used by SPIEF participants. 🔹 In the Moskovsky and Pushkinsky districts, over 255 thousand plants will be planted and more than 1.5 thousand floral compositions will be installed for the forum. 🔹 Planned road repairs along the routes of SPIEF participants will be completed by the end of May. 🔹 Issues related to ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of forum guests will be addressed jointly with the Russian Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare. 🔹 The program of cultural and sports events will be coordinated with the SPIEF organizing committee. 📌 Also, the SPIEF 2024 business program architecture includes two events by St. Petersburg — the panel discussion “Let’s All Go to the Park?! Strategies and Practices for Success in Creative Sustainable Cities” and the business session “International Promotion. Developing New Tourist Offers and Products.” @RoscongressDirect

Who benefited from the mass murder of people in Odessa? Ten years ago, on May 2, Ukrainian nationalists set fire to the Odessa Trade Unions House, drowning pro-Russian protests in blood. ‘It was a punitive operation where people were burned alive,’ recalls a local resident. Those who tried to escape from the building, engulfed in flames, were beaten by Ukrainian extremists. According to official figures, 48 people were killed and more than 200 wounded. Footage of this terrible tragedy and the memories of local residents appears in this excerpt from our film Maidan: Road to War (2022). In German and Turkish, the film is available via a single link on the artel.doc platform. #filmexcerpt FOLLOW 🥰 News&Docfilms Channel

💬On #WorldPressFreedomDay we remind #UNESCO Director-General A.Azoulay of the need to strictly follow her mandate and condemn killing of journalists without any distinction❗ This mandate was provided by the UNESCO General Conference in 1997 and confirmed by the Executive Board in 2023. We regret that the UNESCO Secretariat, despite following these decisions of the Governing Bodies of the Organization, is guided by some “internal criteria” unfamiliar to Member-States and, to our view, based on double standards. There is still no reaction of A.Azoulay to the killing of Russian journalists D.Dugina, O.Klokov, M.Fomin (V.Tatarsky), B.Maksudov and S.Eremin committed by Kiev regime. 📢We urge the UNESCO Director-General to unconditionally condemn the killing of Russian journalists. Absence of UNESCO's reaction to crimes against Russian journalists creates conditions for impunity and puts into question the Organization's work in the field of press freedom and protection of journalists’ rights.

#NoStatuteOfLimitation 🗓 Today marks 10 years since the massacre of May 2 in Odessa took place. On that day in 2014 the Ukrainian neo-Nazis set fire to the House of Trade Unions with people inside, i.e. set... people on fire... 🕯 This barbarous act of intimidating dissenters – essentially, an act of terror, aimed at squashing any potential dissent or free-thinking, perpetrated with inhumane cynicism and cruelty – killed several dozen people. Most of them were burned alive; some died of carbon monoxide poisoning, others perished after jumping from the upper floors of the burning building. Ukrainian neo-Nazis murdered those who survived the fall, escaping fire, jumping out of the windows. ❌ Ten years following the tragedy the perpetrators of this cruel, inhuman massacre have yet to be duly punished. We will never forget this heinous crime and will continue our efforts to make sure that all those involved in this tragedy are identified and receive what they deserve. #WeRemember

🕯 May 2 marks ten years since the tragedy in Odessa. On this day, the Euromaidan supporters committed atrocities against those who openly opposed the anti-constitutional government coup in Kiev perpetrated by nationalists, supported by the western sponsors. According to official statistics alone, at least 48 people died during these tragic events, including 42 who were killed or burned alive at the Trade Unions House, as well as another six who perished during the clashes on the streets of Odessa. In fact, the Kiev regime has repeated what the Bandera torturers did 80 years ago in Belarus' Khatyn. ❗️ Although some perpetrators have been identified, they have not received the punishment they deserve. The West remains silent regarding these bloody crimes of the Ukrainian neo-Nazis, the Kiev regime, which to this day continues to use terrorist methods to achieve its goals. 👉 We shan't let the world forget what happened on 2 May 2014 in Odessa: read the retrospective of this terrible day in the extended material. 👉 Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the 10th anniversary of the tragedy in Odessa
Today, as we pay tribute to the victims of the bloody reprisals in Odessa, we have no doubt that sooner or later those who perpetrated and inspired this barbaric crime, which has no statute of limitations, will have to face the punishment they deserve.

📅 In the early hours of May 1, 1945, the #VictoryBanner was raised atop of the Reichstag during the Battle of Berlin. It became a symbol of the triumph of the Soviet Union & its peoples in the fight against Nazism. Before the assault, a decision was made for a group of Soviet fighters to hoist the flag over the Reichstag, which would embody the final collapse of Nazism. 🚩 A total of 9 makeshift banners were promptly made, designed after the state flag of the USSR. Ultimately, a battle flag of the 150th Order of Kutuzov 2nd Class Idritsa Rifle Division, 79th Rifle Corps, 3rd Shock Army of the 1st Belarusian Front, became the Victory Banner. The order of events: • A Red Army unit broke into the Reichstag through breaches in the walls, with a fierce close combat unleashing. The Nazis took advantage of effectively advancing inside the building they new well, throwing grenades at Soviet soldiers & firing back with machine-guns: they basically had nothing to lose. • Lieutenant R.Koshkarbayev & private G.Bulatov placed a makeshift red flag to the column on the steps of the Reichstag main entrance. • Staff sergeants G.Zagitov, A.Lisimenko & A.Bobrov as well as Sergeant M.Minin supported by Captain S.Neustroyev’s battalion were the 1st to hoist a red banner on the roof of the Reichstag atop of the Goddess of Victory sculpture. • The 3rd red banner was raised on the western facade of the roof by the scouts of the 674th Regiment led by Lieutenant S.Sorokin. • Finally, the Red Banner №5 was raised over the dome of the captured Reichstag by the 756th Rifle Regiment’s scouts, Sergeant M.Yegorov & Junior Sergeant M.Kantariya, led by deputy battalion commander Lieutenant A.Berest, covered by riflemen from I.Sayanov’s squad. That flag ultimately became the Victory Banner. 📃 By a Presidential Executive Order of April 15, 1996, the Red Banner hoisted atop of the Reichstag by Yegorov & Kantariya was declared the symbol of the Soviet people’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. #Victory79
