#Opinion by Ambassador Gennady Gatilov ▪️ It has been exactly 10 years since the terrible tragedy in Odessa, which is referred to as the "Odessa Khatyn". As in 1943, people, driven into the Trade Unions House by Ukrainian nationalists in the spirit of Hitler's punitive squads, perished in the flames of the burning building. Despite abundant documentary evidence from the scene, no one has faced punishment for the murder of 48 people. ▪️ Calls for a "thorough investigation of the incident" from Washington, the Council of Europe, the European Union and other patrons of the violent 2014 coup in Ukraine, were made just for show for obvious reasons. No one seriously expected the "masters" of the current Kiev regime to be genuinely interested in publicly punishing their subordinates. ▪️ Another issue is more puzzling. The response of the UN, including its human rights mechanisms, as well as other international organizations to the tragedy in Odessa was so casual and "inert" that it only exacerbated the situation. Such an "indulgence of violence" effectively gave Kiev a sense of impunity, which led to the beginning of full-scale military actions against its own citizens (at the time) in Donbass, resulting in thousands of civilian casualties. ▪️ This anniversary gives reason to once again reflect on the nature of the Kiev regime. The Odessa massacre clearly exposed the true face of the Ukrainian authorities and "opened the eyes" of many, above all - the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk, to the grim fate for defending their history, faith, culture and native language. ❗️ I strongly believe that justice will prevail, and the perpetrators will not escape the punishment they deserve. Just as justice caught up with Nazi war criminals, so too will it reach the Ukrainian Banderites committing crimes against humanity today.

#Мнение Г.М.Гатилова ▪️ Ровно 10 лет прошло со дня жуткой трагедии в Одессе, которую недаром называют «одесской Хатынью». Как и в 1943 г., люди, загнанные в Дом профсоюзов украинскими националистами в духе гитлеровских карателей, погибали в огне горящего здания. Несмотря на огромное количество документальных свидетельств с места событий, никто так и не понёс наказание за убийство 48 человек. ▪️ Призывы к «тщательному расследованию инцидента» из кабинетов Вашингтона, Совета Европы, Евросоюза и других кураторов кровавого госпереворота на Украине 2014 г., по понятным причинам, были сделаны «для галочки». Никто всерьёз не рассчитывал, что «хозяева» нынешнего киевского режима будут реально заинтересованы в том, чтобы публично наказать своих подопечных. ▪️ Недоумение вызывает другое. Реакция ООН, включая её правозащитные механизмы, а также других международных организаций на трагедию в Одессе оказалась настолько номинальной и «беззубой», что лишь усугубила ситуацию. Подобная «индульгенция на насилие» фактически развязала руки Киеву, который начал полномасштабные боевые действия против своих же, на тот момент, граждан в Донбассе, приведшие к гибели тысяч мирных жителей. ▪️ Нынешняя годовщина даёт повод в очередной раз задуматься о сути киевского режима. Трагедия в Одессе наглядно показала истинное лицо украинских властей и «открыла глаза» многим, прежде всего жителям Донецка и Луганска, на уготованную им участь за право отстаивать свою историю, веру, культуру и родной язык. ❗️ Не сомневаюсь, что справедливость обязательно восторжествует и виновные не уйдут от заслуженного наказания. Так было с нацистскими преступниками, так будет и с теми украинскими бандеровцами, кто совершает преступления против человечности сегодня.

📸 The iconic WWII photo “Victory Banner over the Reichstag” is widely known across the world as a symbol of the Soviet Victory over Nazi Germany. The photo was taken on May 2, 1945, by a Soviet photographer Evgeniy Khaldei after the last German troops defending the Reichstag had surrendered. 🇷🇺 What is less known, is that the Victory Banner featured in the photo was initially raised over the Reichstag on May 1 by three Soviet soldiers - Aleksei Berest, Mikhail Egorov and Meliton Kantaria - while the fierce battle for the Reichstag was still underway. On May 2, after the fighting had ceased, the red banner was relocated to the top of the building, marking the historic Victory. Shortly thereafter, the banner was taken down and transported to Moscow, where it was kept at the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the USSR for eternal preservation. 🌟 Today, visitors of the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation can only view one of the four official replicas of the Victory Banner. The original is stored in a special glass capsule in an underground vault of the museum to protect it from damage. 🇷🇺 In 2007, the Russian legislation conferred upon the Victory Banner the status of a state relic of the Russian Federation and the official symbol of the Victory of the Soviet people and its Armed Forces over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

🇷🇺🇺🇳 The Russian Federation plans to participate in the Diplomatic Conference to conclude an International Legal Instrument Relating to Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Traditional Knowledge Associated with Genetic Resources (May 13-24, Geneva). Our interministerial delegation, which will include representatives from Rospatent, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Education, will be headed by the Director of Rospatent, Yury Zubov. ❗️ Given the breakthrough nature of the document, which aims to regulate the rights of indigenous peoples in the field of intellectual property, the upcoming event has attracted the attention of a broad audience. WIPO expects more than 1,500 participants, including representatives of indigenous peoples and local communities as observers. 🤝 The work on the future international legal instrument, for which the Diplomatic Conference is convened, has been ongoing for 25 years (since 1999). At all stages, Russia has consistently contributed to the development of the document. Now, as we reach the final stage, our delegation plans to constructively collaborate with our partners on clarifying and resolving any remaining differences in the text's formulations and definitions. ℹ️ If adopted, such an international document could enhance the efficiency, transparency and quality of the patent system. It would prevent the erroneous issuance of patents on inventions that lack novelty and inventive step in relation to genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge. 🧬️ *Genetic resources are genetic material of plant, animal, microbial, or other origin containing functional units of heredity (DNA) and representing actual or potential value.

🇷🇺🇺🇳 Делегация Российской Федерации планирует принять участие в Дипломатической конференции по заключению международного правового документа, касающегося интеллектуальной собственности, генетических ресурсов и традиционных знаний, связанных с генетическими ресурсами (13-24 мая с.г., Женева). Нашу межведомственную делегацию, в которую войдут представители Роспатента, МИД России, Минэкономразвития и Минобразования, будет возглавлять Руководитель Роспатента Ю.С.Зубов. ❗️ Учитывая прорывной характер документа, который нацелен на урегулирование прав коренных народов в сфере интеллектуальной собственности, к предстоящему мероприятию приковано внимание самой широкой аудитории. ВОИС ожидает более 1,5 тысяч участников, включая представителей коренных народов и местных общин в качестве наблюдателей. 🤝 Работа над будущим международным договором, для принятия которого созывается Дипконференция, велась на протяжении 25 лет (с 1999 г.). На всех этапах Россия принимала активное участие в выработке текста. Намерены и сейчас, на заключительном этапе, совместно с партнерами конструктивно работать над формулировками, по которым сохраняются разногласия. ℹ️ В случае принятия, такой международный договор сможет повысить эффективность, прозрачность и качество патентной системы. Он позволит предотвратить ошибочную выдачу патентов на изобретения, которые не обладают новизной и изобретательским уровнем в отношении генетических ресурсов и связанных с ними традиционных знаний. 🧬️ *Генетические ресурсы – это генетический материал растительного, животного, микробного или иного происхождения, содержащий функциональные единицы наследственности (ДНК) и представляющий фактическую или потенциальную ценность.

🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s response to a media question regarding Switzerland’s decision to freeze 13 billion francs ($14.3 billion) of Russian assets in the country: 📍 April 25, 2024, Moscow 💬 The freezing of Russian assets, primarily the reserves of the Bank of Russia, in Western jurisdictions, as well as attempts to seize them, are illegal measures that grossly violate the fundamental principles and norms of international law (including the principle of sovereign equality of states and the UN Charter). We consider any infringement on the property rights and interests of our country as nothing but blatant, cynical theft with a goal of self-enrichment. ❗️ In accordance with the principle of reciprocity in international relations, we respond in kind to any unfriendly actions, including those from Switzerland. However, a reciprocal response does not have to be a symmetrical one. We will adhere to this stance in the event of possible confiscation of our assets. Russia has a range of political and economic countermeasures at its disposal against unfriendly countries. 🇨🇭 It is clear that they will fully impact Bern as well, should the local authorities fail to come to their senses and decide to engage in criminal and fraudulent schemes. Established by the UN General Assembly resolution 73/127 of December 12, 2018, it seeks to promote the values of the United Nations and reaffirm the faith of our peoples in the purposes and principles enshrined in its Charter. 🇺🇳 #UNCharterIsOurRules From Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the UN Security Council’s open debates “Effective multilateralism through the Defence of the Principles of the UN Charter” (New York, April 24, 2023): 💬 For a little less than 80 years of its existence, the UN has been carrying out the important mission entrusted to it by its founders. For several decades, a basic understanding by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council as regards the supremacy of the charter’s goals and principles guaranteed global security. • Today, our UN-centric system is going through a deep crisis. The main reason is a striving by some UN members to replace international law and the UN Charter with a certain “rules-based” order. • Our Western colleagues have been inconvenienced by holding talks based on universal formats, such as the UN, for a long time now. In order to provide an ideological substantiation for the course on undermining multilateralism, they initiated a concept of united “democracies” as opposed to “autocracies.” • Summits for Democracy, the Alliance for Multilateralism <...> – all these and other non-inclusive projects were designed to thwart talks on the corresponding matters under the auspices of the UN. ❗️ Let's call it what it is: no one authorised the Western minority to speak on behalf of all humankind. Please act decently and respect all members of the international community. 👉 It is our common duty to preserve the United Nations as the hard-won epitome of multilateralism and coordination of international politics. The key to success lies in working together, renouncing claims to anyone's exceptionalism and showing respect for the sovereign equality of states.

🎙️ Excerpts from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s address at the Moscow Nonproliferation Conference (MNC): 📍 April 22, 2024 🌐 The MNC participants are meeting amidst a crisis in the system of arms control, disarmament and nonproliferation, which reflects unprecedented degradation in the sphere of international security. ⚔️ Today, the US and its NATO client states are still hoping to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia and are ready to carry on with their policy of deterring our country “to the last Ukrainian”. At the same time, the West is balancing on a dangerous edge of direct military confrontation between nuclear powers, which could lead to catastrophic consequences. We are especially concerned that the three Western nuclear powers are among the main sponsors of the criminal Kiev regime and the key masterminds behind various provocations. This could create serious strategic risks and increase the level of nuclear threat. ❌ There is no justification for engaging in arms control and strategic stability talks with the US while our country is facing a total hybrid war. This agenda cannot be artificially separated from the broader international context and considered in isolation from other aspects of interstate relations, as Washington suggests. Discussions on these matters can only take place after the US government abandons its openly hostile anti-Russian stance. Any attempt to reduce conflict should address the root cause, namely NATO's aggressive eastward expansion. We see no alternative to these fundamental approaches. ❗️ We are convinced that in order to prevent further degradation of the world situation, maintain durable stability and create a realistic disarmament, all countries should combine their efforts to upgrade the international security system based on the principles of multilateralism, equality and indivisibility. 🎙 Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s answer to a media question about US Congress approving financial aid to Ukraine ❓ What can you say about US Congress voting to allocate funds to Ukraine and other US clients? 💬 We have no interest whatsoever in the noise coming from the House of Representatives over approving aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, which goes hand in hand with the tug-of-war between the White House and the Republicans who, with the upcoming presidential campaign in mind, were also pushing for funding the efforts to put an end to illegal border crossings from Mexico. One thing is clear: regardless of their party affiliation, the US ruling elites are willing to flood the Kiev regime with weapons for it to continue to fight to the last Ukrainian and to continue, among other things, to carry out terrorist attacks targeting civilian sites in Russia, to perpetrate acts of sabotage, and to kill journalists. For this purpose, Washington is resorting to the trivial theft of frozen Russian assets, for which Congress has given the green light to the Biden administration. Interestingly, amid these internal squabbles, the White House is no longer banking on an ephemeral victory by the Kiev regime under its control. All it wants is for the Ukrainian armed forces to hold out at least until the November voting without damaging Biden’s image. Actually, this is why the agony of Zelensky and his inner circle is being dragged out, and ordinary Ukrainians are being forcibly driven to slaughter as cannon fodder. The Republicans who are lobbying the interests of the US defence industry, which will receive the bulk of allocations to Ukraine, have a stake in this as well. Considering this, we confirm that Washington’s actions as an active party to the conflict will be rebuffed unconditionally and decisively, and its increasingly deeper plunge into the hybrid war against Russia will end up in a fiasco for the United States as scandalous and humiliating as in Vietnam and Afghanistan.
