The same can be said of the Stan-Rune in this version of it, which we use for the White Stone of Ing.

I think it was Freya AEswynn who saw the Odal Rune as the 'Gift of Ing', since it is made up of the Gyfu and Ing-Rune.

GAR-RUNE - One of the runes that is a bind-rune, this one being Gyfu and Ing - 'Gift of Ing'. This is the same message as we find on the White Stone of Ing, rather a synchronicity. Does this too relate to Fire in some hidden way? The Spear of Woden is the Spear of Destiny.

It has been said that King AEthelstan wielded the Spear of Destiny (Spear of Woden) when he united the Ingefolk as one nation with one king.

In 927CE King AEthelstan was the first ruler to control all the Anglo-Saxon territories that make up modern England. This effectively created the English Nation. There are some civic nationalists who suggest celebrating this on Monday 12th July 2027, which will be the 1100th anniversary. I have no time for civic nationalism, but this has to be admitted as a step in the right direction since it honours the English Nation

Closely related with the Plough constellation is the figure of Boötes. Boötes is himself a ploughman, his name connected to the Greek bootein meaning ‘to plough’. He is also described as a herdsman, hunter and the ox-driver. The Old English and Norse academic Marijane Osborn (born 1934) makes a case that the Boötes constellation represented the god Ing. If so the OE rune poem describes Ing pulling the wagon constellation across the sea -
Ing wæs ærest mid East-Denum - gesewen secgun, oþ he siððan est
ofer wæg gewat; wæn æfter ran - ðus Heardingas ðone hæle nemdun
Ing was first among the East-Danes seen by men, until he later eastwards went across the waves, his wagon sped behind. Thus the Heardingas named the hero.

The main thing to do in such circumstances is to be determined to carry on and to prepare things for the following year. There is plenty to do over the winter period. I do not grow late stuff at present because it does not always seem to work out. One thing that needs looking at is irrigation - to set up a water-system to collect more rain over the rainy period. I am working on more barrels. My allotment was just as bad if not worse, since we have problems with water anyway, and next year I may 'rest' some of it so as to catch up a bit. Have fitted a tap in the garden too, something that I kept putting off.

In regard to my home-growing this year it has been a disaster, worst crop ever. The wet winter did not help and my overwintering garlic failed completely. I dug over the area in mid-spring and planted sweetcorn, but due to the prolonged dry period this too failed, so I dug it up again, leaving things for next year now. Early lettuce was good, but the hot weather made most bolt to seed. Tomatoes were good and still coming, but fruit was poor, apart from the apple trees. Runner beans failed completely. I dug the beds early and prepared for next year, which we hope will be different. Win some - lose some! This is all part of the work we do, and we go on to next year.

Excuse the spelling mistakes in the above, one of the problems that needs to be overcome - no use using a machine to make it right - takes practice.

Runic Meditations. Runic Forces. Runes Rown Right Rede - 'Runes give right counsel'

RIT-RUNE - RAD-RUNE : Rune of the Rita: Guido von LIst tells us - the Rita IS, Wyrd BECOMES. Right, Right Order, Rhythm, Ritual. Rod of Authority. At a negative level this is the Rat, the destructive force that destroys and 'leaves the falling house', to move on to do the same again, and again.....The answer can be found in the problem. Also a Rune of Race.

SIGEL-RUNE - SOWILO-RUNE : Rune of the Sun, Solar Fire and LIght. Also, and important at this time, the Lightning-Bolt that blasts into the Darkness and ignorance of this Dark Age. The Lightning-Bolt of Thunor pierces the eerie darkness - rune of enlightening. We fight for Right, Order, Light, Truth and Justice.

I believe that the discovery of the White Stone of Ing was a message to us that the 'Gift of Ing' is FIRE, and thus why I see Yngvi as of importance at this time. This is the 'Age of Ing' and an underground current runs contrary to the dying Old Order (even if they choose to call it a 'New World Order'). This undercurrent keeps the Eternal Flame alight in the growing darkness.

This 'Flame Imperishable' I link to Yngvi at one level because he is the Ancestral God of the Ingefolk and thus the 'Inner Fire' burns within us.

This piece by The Fyrgen is very interesting, especially the idea of our being able to 'nurture the Flame Imperishable'. The Oera Linda Book speaks of the Foddick, an Eternal Flame tended by a Burg-Maiden, and William Morris' House of the Wolfings speaks of the Hall-Sun, an Eternal Flame tended by a maiden called 'The Hall-sun'. The most ancient Aryan Religions were based around the Sacred Fire, in Persia and India, and the Germanic Religion of ancient times would have been very similar. In 'Lord of the Rings' Gandalf bears the 'Ring of Fire' - Narya, and wields the 'Secret Fire'. There is some importance in keeping the Eternal Flame alight through this Age of Darkness - Light, Life, Order and Truth.

A superb analysis here of J.R.R. Tolkien's worldview, as deduced from his works.
I myself could not feel more aligned with this thinking. I'm often accused of being a defeatist because I don't believe in a political solution or that our folkdoms can be fully restored. I think a sudden mass-awakening is unlikely. What I do believe, with every ounce of my being, is that regardless of the decline, we (those who are capable) are here to (sub)create as much beauty, honour and goodness as possible; to nurture the Flame Imperishable. To a materialist, this might seem like a futile, thankless task, but there's a profound reason that some are instinctively drawn towards acts of beauty.

This is very true, and I think true of the 'Anglo-Saxon invsion' as well, since Hengest took on the Wyrd of Aetla who himself took on the might of Rome, and the growing Roman-Christian Church whose work was later shifted to the Christian Franks and Charlemagne.
