In regard to the above advice given by Fiona Aedgar the use of the Aegishjalm seems to be for 'Active Defence'. This may be seen as 'Ygg's Helm' or 'Helm of the Terrible One'. In this regard it is of a similar nature to the above Hindu Symbol of the Ashtanga Yantra, used for 'Active Defence'. It is most likely that this relates to Shiva, and maybe to the Ur-Form of Rudra, one of whose titles is Ughr. This helps to send back any form of psychic attack, which is redirected back to the sender. The 'tridents' (Eohls-Runes) are defence against the Eight Directions, and when using the Norse version the three 'cross-staves' could be seen to represent the Thorn-Rune. Very powerful symbol.
