Some people think that books are losing their importance as a source of information and entertainment. To what extent do you agree? It's believed that books' significance as a source of information and amusement is being lost. I completely agree with this opinion on several grounds. Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  First, due to prevalence of technology, there are far more convenient ways to acces information. People can learn and acquire even the most complex skills and knowledge by watching online tutorials on websites such as Youtube or by researching educational platforms such as Research Gate. They no longer have to go to the library, check out materials and turn the pages one by one in search of certain content; instead, they can tap into an unlimited pool of data with just a click of a button. Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  The very prevalence of technology is also affecting the way people entertain themselves. If in the past books were the go-to option, now, the variety and availability of relatively more engaging activities are making the books grow obsolete in terms of enjoying a pasttime. Children, adults and even elderly play video games, watch movies and browse the web scrolling through different social networking and news platforms. This has accordingly been resulting in a decrease in interest towards books as of late, which has become apparent due to a consistent decline in book sales over the past years. Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  In conclusion, I agree with the view on the grounds that technology is making both information access and entertainment more convenient, varied and available, slowly but surely replacing books in these roles. 270 words

Many people like to wear fashionable clothes. Why do you think this is the case? Is this a good or a bad thing? Today, people are keen on dressing fashionably. The causes of this development are multi-faceted, and I am of the opinion that this is generally a change for the worse for several reasons. People’s desire to purchase and wear hip outfits can be explained on two dimensions. First is the strong impact of fashion industry as of late: to make a bigger profit, garment and jewelry companies have been using persuasive marketing techniques to lure more people into buying more of their products labeling them as β€œtrendy”. They create and maintain strong brand images by employing famous celebrities as ambassadors of their brands, telling touching stories, and allocating millions to advertising and promotion. People, at the same time, are exposed to those promotions through various platforms such as television, radio and social networking sites and pushed into purchasing up-to-date wear. Another reason is more personal as wearing up-to-date clothing gives people a boost in confidence. Whenever individuals follow the latest trends, it helps them enhance their looks, leading them to feel better about themselves. For instance, teenagers usually become more secure, even for a short period of time, having updated their wardrobe. However, I am inclined to believe this is a worrying trend on several grounds. Environmental impact is the primary of my concerns du to an increased volume of production. Now that increasingly more people are passionate about refreshing their style on a seasonal basis, the textile industry is growing exponentially, causing severe environmental problems like water pollution, resource exhaustion and greenhouse gas emissions. A case in point can be a recent study by Greenpeace that reported textile industry to be one of the main culprits of micro-plastic pollution in the oceans. Furthermore, on a personal note, people might face severe financial shortages as well as stress because purchasing latest items of clothing along with being constantly concerned over ones image in an attempt to meet social standards of beauty and fashion might lead to a great deal of anxiety and financial strain. In conclusion, people’s willingness to wear fashionable clothes comes from a wide reach of fashion industries in addition to the fact that it helps people boost their confidence; however, I deem this to be a negative development due to the adverse impacts on the environment and people’s mental and financial well-beings.
