Freshman guide to MAD's foundry semester. So, congratulations. You got into MAD. However, you're not in your specialization yet, you have to prove yourself over a semester over a foundry programme that includes a wide set of modules that have core skills relevant to your desired specialization. For instance, you want to learn more about graphic design or photography? Principles of Design is here for you. Want to practice your creative writing and ideation? Story Craft allows you to do so! Feel like learning more about psychology? X-Lab is here for you to come up with creative solutions for a user problem! Along with the usual Common Core Modules, you also have pre-specialization taster modules! They won't count in your GPA at the end of the semester HOWEVER, they do take 70% weightage when the hierarchy at the MAD council post you to your desired specialization for semester 2 onwards. The remaining 30% is your GPA. So lock in on your pre-specialisation modules. 🙏

Tips and tricks on how to get into EXCO/subcomm of any council/union/acad club 101 You need a couple of things -have a vagina AND be Singapore standard pretty - solid insta following base (at least 500 followers or your followers> following) -even if you have the most stacked experience and skillset “Give other people a chance” -know someone personally already in the club like got good chance they probs accept you - a solid mind (and coping mechanism) because even the most tough mindsets could be broken by a few power tripping members. - the willpower to leave if this ain’t it and you have seen EVERYTHING - if they are asking you specifically to turn up for something and specifically NOT wear any SP related shirt, confirm is some questionable shit ~~~~ IF you’re already a senior in council/acad club/union -don’t scold your juniors until they cry and still call it constructive feedback - your juniors ain’t your personal stress ball, like go to therapy or rant/yap to a friend or something. You wouldn’t want generational trauma in your cca or something - don’t throw your juniors the work and expect them to know what to do like, at least throw some manual or give an example on how to do the first time.
