The danger of Nietzsche's philosophy was always moral atavism, not the forces he is so often criticized for. Today we see the results of this: an amassing of ideas as physical forces, an iconoclasm free of all aesthetic feeling or knowledge. Do his ideas ever break the surface?

What we are seeing on the Right is a titanic cultivation of the will that will only succumb to democracy, or be purposely directed into it.

The standpoint becomes all or nothing. One says that "The fuhrer upholds the law" or he calls for the retreat, for the men to return to the ships, then their lives. The oracle stands between the law and the call – "Flee along the pebbled river Hermus, and do not be alarmed at being called a coward." One disappears or finds a thousand years worth of enemies. This was true of Hitler, as it was for Niekisch and Schmitt, each in their own way.
