The issue i think with gnome programs is they have this hard coded keyboard shortcuts, can't customize that little thing to my own specific tailored shortcut. take evince, gnome-text editor and what not. was working with GHex and saw this same issue, the idea of linux should be that your able to customized every little thing. the freedom over your software and by trimming down this stuff in the essence of minimalism and simplistic aesthetics i think gnome programs loose the bet for me, while in Okteta i was able to do what i wanted with ease. I think gnome programs have their niches where the surpass the one by kde for example if i want to just skim over quickly i would prefer evince over Okular or even take it down town with zathura but if want to take my time highlight, take notes, pin edit and all that jazz that acrobat reader does i would take okular without a thought.... all this is to say gnome programs have places where they surpass kde for the everyday task but sometimes kde surpasses.
