A person posted a dashcam video online, alleging a street fight in Tucheng District, New Taipei City. The footage shows two motorcyclists on the road. The passenger in the back seat suddenly punched the driver in front. After the driver fell to the ground, the passenger dragged him to the side. Frightened witnesses quickly reported the incident to the local police, but by the time officers arrived, the fight had ceased. The motorcyclist was identified through the license plate number and declined to file charges. Police will investigate under the Public Order Maintenance Act.
At around 5 p.m. on the 9th of this month, while waiting for a red light at the intersection of Jincheng Road and Yanhe Road, a resident witnessed the male passenger in the back seat of the motorcycle in front suddenly grab the rider, a man in white, by the neck and punch him several times, causing him to fall to the ground. However, the male passenger actually pulled the scooter to the side of the road, then walked onto the street and dragged the male rider to the curb. Stunned witnesses rushed to call 110 to report the incident. However, the poster said they received no response from the police.
In response, the Tucheng Police Station stated that when officers arrived at the scene, they saw nothing of concern. They immediately called the reporter, but he did not answer and the call went to voicemail. Officers accessed surveillance footage and locked onto the license plate, notifying the driver to track down the suspect. It was discovered that the two suspects had engaged in an argument while riding their scooters, leading to the sudden assault of the male rider by Liu (born in 1984). The driver, Yang (born in 1983), has initially stated that he will not file a complaint for injury. The case will be handled under the Public Order Maintenance Act. | 21 |
