Berlin has summoned the Russian Foreign Minister and has closed the Russian House in Bonn. The European Commission President and NATO's Secretary General have expressed solidarity with Germany.

🇮🇷🇴🇲⚡- On August 31, yesterday, only 5 vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz, a 50% decrease compared to 10 transits the previous day. Of the five vessels, two were ghost tankers and one was under US, UK, and EU sanctions, which suggests at least three of the five were very possibly Iranian ships. Four of the five vessels entered the Gulf, while only one existed to the Arabian Sea. Note, this does not indicate a low supply of Gulf oil to the global market. The US is currently leading an operation to export oil and gas from the Strait of Hormuz, which requires smaller, but faster vessels passing through the Hormuz via Omani waters under US military protection, then transferring its medium to a larger tanker. Dozens of ship-to-ship transfers occur daily in the Arabian Sea. The use of smaller and faster ships makes it difficult for Iran to detect and disable them.

🇮🇳🇷🇺⚡️- At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has privately urged President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine. The plead comes as the U.S. is in the final stages of approving up to 100% tariffs on Russian oil buyers. Recently, Russia has started to supply up to 50% of all Indian oil imports.

🇾🇪⚡- One of the most senior Islamic State officials and its spokesman Abu Hudhayfah al-Ansari was killed in an overnight operation by Yemen's Quick Rapid Forces, QRF. The QRF were designed by the UAE and worked closely with the former Southern Transitional Council. The forces are based in the al-Rayyan Air Base, and operate in a similar way to Sudan's Rapid Support Forces pre-2023.

- A U.S. Official to AXIOS reported that in recent days that an Iranian anti-aircraft missile was launched towards a U.S. F-35 fighter jet that was providing cover to ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

🇮🇷🇴🇲🇸🇦⚡- Saudi tanker, CEDAR, was disabled while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz via Omani waters, IRIB reports.

🇪🇺🇷🇺⚡- EU's forces have seized a Russian ghost tanker, SUN, in the Mediterranean Sea yesterday. The forces boarded the vessel which was flying under a false flag. She would be the sixth Russian vessel the EU have seized in international waters.

🇮🇷🇮🇱⚡- Earlier this year, Israel trained thousands of Kurdish separatists on Israeli territory as part of a plan to topple the Iranian government, Israeli Channel 13 reports.

🇬🇷🇮🇱⚡- Israel and Greece pen a mega €3.1 billion defense deal, dubbed the 'Achilles Shield'. 19 Greek companies are already involved, which combines the David’s Sling, BARAK MX and SPYDER air defense interceptors with Israeli radars and command systems.
