"Here's a recent review of the Ungoogled Teracube 2e phone from /e/ that came pre-loaded with the /e/ OS operating system, being used as a daily driver for nearly two months. The /e/ project is managed by the e Foundation." "/e/OS is not about hardened security, at least for now. It’s not for people who can be targeted by governments, intelligence services or illegal organizations. We are making a mobile phone ecosystem that lets users escape the permanent and industrial harvesting of their personal data." — Gaël Duval https://thenewleafjournal.com/review-of-e-an-android-alternative-for-mobile-phones/ #e_OS_Review

[Forwarded from Gokham] Here is a good video explaining how to use the rsync command, which is and always has been the standard Linux sync and backup tool. It is an essential command to learn if you are running your own server, such as a Nextcloud server or an email server. Rsync is also nice for local file sync and backup, although sync & compare programs such as "Meld" and "Beyond Compare" offer a good GUI interface for this as well. Meld and Beyond Compare integrate into Nemo and Nautilus files browsers, making it even more convenient to use them. This video is uploaded here because Jay, the LearnLinuxTV guy does not put his videos anywhere other than YouTube. Maybe we can email him and ask he puts them on Odyseee like most of the other Linux guys. Video taken from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PnAohLS-Q4 #Rsync_How_To_Use

This article might help encourage others who should or are considering using Linux. https://www.makeuseof.com/linux-myths-debunked/

the Rsync command line tool can be used to sync and back up files, and it can be automated using a cron job. https://linuxiac.com/rsync-command-in-linux-with-example/ #rsync_file_backup

A coallition of Utah cities have been building their own fiber optics Internet infrastructure for over a decade. It is independent of big tech. If it ever makes it's way into my neighborhood, I'll probably self host my Nextcloud and email directly from home. https://www.utopiafiber.com/about-utopia-fiber/

. Krita is an amazing paint, graphics, and photo editing program that can be used to replace some of the functionality of both Photoshop and Illustrator. Krita has both Vector layers and Raster layers, allowing you to combine the two into one program. The "Help" menu has a link to the Krita Handbook, which you can download in EPub format, or browse online. For interviews of artists and samples of work being done by those artists using Krita, you can go here: https://krita.org/en/features/artist-interviews/ To install the latest version of Krita on an Ubuntu based system, such as Mint: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kritalime/ppa sudo apt update sudo apt install krita To remove Krita and it's repository:
sudo apt remove --autoremove krita

[Forwarded from Gokham] The Google Pixel 3A becomes the 1st device to achieve 100% support in Ubuntu Touch. Here is the Tux Phones article: https://tuxphones.com/google-pixel-3a-full-stable-ubports-linux-ubuntu-touch-feature-support/ You can see the Pixel 3a supported features here: https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/sargo/ Keep in mind that Ubuntu Touch uses Google's Android kernel, so in spite of people calling Ubuntu Touch phones a "Linux Phones" they are more along the lines of another DeGoogled phone option. #Ubuntu_Touch_Pixel_3A

. For those that connect to their own servers remotely via the terminal and SSH, the duf program is a nice aesthetically pleasing alternative to the df (display filesystems?) command. You can learn about the df command in this video post at the 2:40:35 mark. You can install duf on Debian based distros with:
sudo apt install duf

And then simply run "duf" to list all you disks
