The Gospel of Philip (Nag Hammadi) has a compressed version pointing the opposite direction: the Lord entered the dye works of Levi, threw seventy-two colors into the vat, and drew them all out white — then calls the Son of Man a dyer. Seventy-two was the traditional number of the world's nations, so Philip's version is about all human difference resolved into one light, while the Infancy Gospel version is about one vat producing every difference. The two texts are the prism running in both directions: white light into the rainbow, the rainbow back into white light. | 104 |

There's an ancient text called the Arabic Infancy Gospel (also known as the Syriac Infancy Gospel) — one of the early Christian writings that never made it into the canon. In chapter 37 it tells this:
The child Jesus wanders into a dyer's workshop. The dyer has piles of cloth, each one meant to be dyed a different color for a different customer. While the dyer's back is turned, Jesus takes ALL the cloths and throws them into a single vat of indigo.
The dyer is horrified — everything's ruined.
But when Jesus draws the cloths out, each one comes up exactly the color it was meant to be. Crimson, gold, green, violet. One vat. Many colors.
Sit with that.
One source. One love. And every single piece comes out DIFFERENT — not despite the divine, but because of it. Your color is not a mistake. Your difference is not a flaw in the dye. It's the miracle working exactly as intended.
We are all cloth from the same vat, family. Every color requested. Every color delivered.
