This version includes bugfixes and other minor improvements, as well as: Improved MTProxy: Telegram fixed bugs in FakeTLS detection that will be helpful if messenger is limited in your country. Saying Goodbye to Apple Watch Companion: starting April 1st, Apple no longer supports legacy watchOS apps and requires a full re-write to keep them in App Store. Unfortunately, demand for watchOS apps is low - less than 1% of Swiftgram users had it. This was a fun experiment, but it comes to an end. At least, for now 😉

Latest beta build (269) is based on 12.6.2 source code and uses Telegram’s implementation of the MTProto fix by default. No need to enable anything in debug menu. Please, let me know in the comments, do MTProto proxies work for you on latest build or not?

Telegram experiments with Progressive Web Apps iOS Source code commit 8c54db6 revealed an experimental PWA support for Web Apps (Telegram Mini Apps) in the future. While TMAs are powerful enough, these are core features of PWAs: • Work offline or when connection is bad • Launch faster due to cache • Better support for system APIs like Camera, Microphone, Gallery, etc. • May potentially work in the background (when the Telegram client is active) • May become an icon on your home screen As of today, the commit has been reverted, but these are the possible use-cacses that PWAs may bring: • Offline 2FA authenticator • Offline notes • Live events synced in the background (e.g. Sports) Share your thoughts on what Apps can benefit from PWA 👇

Swiftgram's 2nd Birthday! Two years (and 12 days) ago, Swiftgram went live in the App Store, and I want to recap this year, sharing stats and thoughts with you. This year, Swiftgram reached • 627k monthly active accounts, more than doubled from 281k • 4.3/5 App Store rating, down from 4.5 • 21 updates, roughly every two weeks • Same 100% Open Source I want to once again thank you for your invaluable trust and support! Swiftgram Wrapped 2025 ⌚️ Apple Watch companion Telegram removed support for the Apple Watch companion a while ago, but still had it in the source code. I've adopted it to the latest watchOS and made it available for everyone. This is a very niche feature (only 0.4% of users tried it), but fun experience with old code, yet I won't support it. Unfortunately, the foundation of this companion is very old, and Apple will likely remove support in the near future. Still, I'd be happy to see a simple companion that will be able to quickly do basic tasks with the wrist. ⚡️ Swiftgram Pro Working on frequent Swiftgram updates requires a lot of time and effort. In March, I launched the Swiftgram Pro subscription to cover my efforts. I was unable to show the value of Pro features and reach the expected revenue. It was simply ignored, since the app is already good enough. However, today, Swiftgram is unsustainable for me. Next year, I plan to experiment with paid features, their value proposition, and pricing. This might bring some frequent changes to understand what really "sticks". 💸 How much do I spend on Swiftgram? Last year, I promised myself to post a bit more, yet I am still a bit shy to disturb you with notifications (might create a separate channel). I was happy to see that my recent post on the behind-the-scenes of creating an iOS fork got a lot of attention and positive feedback. Stay tuned for more quality content! 🔍 Global search ban For the entire year, nobody was able to find @swiftgram channel. It was very disappointing to know that being a fully open-source and trusted fork puts Swiftgram on the same level as other apps that violate ToS, violate source code licenses, or leak your personal data. It looks like somebody raised Telegram's attention this September, and Swiftgram was reinstated in search. Thank you! Now it’s back to normal - everyone who searches for “Swiftgram” will immediately see this channel. 🖌 Liquid glass The biggest design controversy of the year noticeably affected Swiftgram's rating. Telegram made a very bold decision to replicate the Glass design on iOS 18 and even Android. But both lovers and haters found me doing a wrong thing. Waiting for an update without bugs? - too long, 1 star. Releasing buggy app with new design? - too bad, 1 star. This is yet another confirmation that it's hard to trust App Store ratings and it's easy to manipulate them. Do your own research, see how developer reacts to the reviews to understand what to expect from the app. 💬 Swiftgram chats They're a bit messy. Lots of off-topic, repeated questions, dead language chats, and a lack of stable anti-spam automation. I want to focus on the quality of Swiftgram communities, and right now, they're far from what I expect. While this post reflect mostly on less positive highlights of the year, I want to be transparent about current things and what to expect next. I will be happy to hear your comments below or directly. Liquid Glass Holywar In early October, Telegram released a version with a new UI. Not only for iOS 26, but for iOS 18 and older with simplified effects. I decided to delay the Swiftgram update while Telegram continued redesigning more components. After a month of waiting, Swiftgram was suddenly hit with a wave of 1-star App Store reviews, claiming the app was abandoned or demanded support for Liquid Glass. I quickly updated the source code, fixed several bugs, and released version 12.2 on the App Store. And guess what? Swiftgram was hit with another round of 1-star reviews… this time because of the new design itself. Somebody also paid for 1500 bots to add fake negative reactions to the post. As a result, Swiftgram’s global App Store rating dropped from 4.5 to 4.3 stars in less than a month: • Users who don’t like Liquid Glass leave negative reviews. • Users who do like Liquid Glass don’t update their old 1-star ratings. App Store rating system worth a separate post, but for now, let's talk about Liquid Glass. How many Swiftgram users have new iOS?

Today, more than a half of Swiftgram users are on iOS 26 with Liquid Glass. This number increases daily. • 53.9% - iOS 26 • 41.5% - iOS 18 • 3.6% - iOS 13-17

Can Swiftgram delete Liquid Glass update?

No, because Swiftgram will never get any new future updates if I will rollback the current version. Telegram will be introducing new features, resulting in lot's of "Unsupported message" and missing functionality.

Can Swiftgram add a toggle to switch between old and new designs?

From development perspective, it's not just a button that "enables new design". It's a separate source code file that implements UI elements. I will need to maintain both designs for all the features. And in case Telegram releases a new feature (like Live Stories, Repeated messages, Auctions, etc) I will need to build it from scratch in an old design. Supporting two different designs is an incredible overhead that does not pay off in any way. It will significantly slowdown Swiftgram updates, that I tend to do quickly. It does not make sense with a rising count of iOS 26 users and global Glass trend.

I don't like Liquid Glass, what can I do?

There're no simple options 1. You can fork Swiftgram from https://source.swiftgram.app and build your own app. It costs money, requires powerful hardware and some tech skills. 2. Another option is to provide your feedback to Apple and hope they will change something.
