| 5 | Your matriculation is more than just wearing a gown and taking pictures. It marks an important moment in your journey as a student of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
If you can attend physically, go, participate, meet people, make friends, take pictures, celebrate, and enjoy the moment.
If you cannot attend physically, you can still watch the ceremony online.
Do not allow confusion or misinformation to make you unnecessarily worried.
Welcome officially to NOUN, and congratulations once again! 🎓💚 | 804 |
| 6 | *OFFICIAL CLARIFICATION ON NOUN MATRICULATION, OATH FORM & COLLECTION OF MATRICULATION GOWNS*
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL NEW STUDENTS
Dear New Students,
This is to provide a clear and official clarification regarding the forthcoming Matriculation Ceremony, Oath Form, and collection of matriculation gowns. All newly admitted students are advised to read this information carefully.
*🎓 1. MATRICULATION CEREMONY — PHYSICAL & ONLINE*
The matriculation ceremony will be conducted physically at all designated NOUN Study Centres across the country.
New students are encouraged to attend physically at their respective Study Centres. This is a special and memorable occasion where the University officially welcomes you as bona fide students of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
It is also an opportunity to:
✅ Meet and interact with fellow students
✅ Make new friends and exchange contacts
✅ Take pictures and create beautiful memories
✅ Celebrate with your classmates
✅ Enjoy the matriculation experience with your family and loved ones
You are also welcome to come along with your parents, siblings, relatives, or loved ones to celebrate this important milestone with you.
*💻 WHAT IF I CANNOT ATTEND PHYSICALLY?*
The matriculation will also be streamed online from the NOUN Headquarters in Abuja.
Therefore, students who may be unable to attend physically can join the online livestream and watch the ceremony from wherever they are.
However, please understand that online participation is primarily for viewing the ceremony. It does not mean that the physical matriculation ceremony at your Study Centre has been cancelled or replaced.
The main ceremony, including the Vice-Chancellor's address and other official University/Senate proceedings, will be streamed live to the Study Centres.
After the official proceedings, students at the Study Centres can proceed with their own celebration, wearing their matriculation gowns, taking pictures, interacting with one another, and enjoying the occasion.
So, if you are available to attend physically, we strongly encourage you to go and experience it firsthand. It is a one-time ceremony and a beautiful part of your university journey. 🎓📸
*📝 2. CLARIFICATION ON THE OATH FORM*
Students should also note that the Oath Form can still be completed after the matriculation ceremony.
Therefore, if you are unable to attend the matriculation ceremony physically, do not panic about the Oath Form.
You can request for the Oath Form afterwards, complete it, and have it signed accordingly.
Attendance at the physical matriculation ceremony is not compulsory.
However, if you have the opportunity and time to attend, it is highly encouraged because it gives you the opportunity to participate in this important milestone and celebrate with your fellow students.
*🎓 3. COLLECTION OF MATRICULATION GOWNS*
From Monday,7th September, individual Study Centres will begin providing information on the collection of matriculation gowns.
Students should follow the instructions and arrangements provided by their respective Study Centres.
Please note that a refundable deposit may be required before a matriculation gown is issued.
The amount may vary from one Study Centre to another depending on the centre's arrangement. For example, a centre may request ₦2,000, ₦3,000, ₦5,000, or another specified amount.
The deposit is refundable upon the proper return of the gown, subject to the Study Centre's policy.
This deposit is mainly to ensure that the gowns are properly returned and kept in good condition.
*⚠️ 4. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE MATRICULATION CAP*
Once you collect your matriculation gown, please take proper care of it.
*DO NOT WASH THE MATRICULATION CAP WITH WATER.*
You may wash and iron the gown itself where necessary, but do not wash the cap with water.
Instead, you can gently brush and clean the cap to keep it neat.
Please ensure that the gown and cap are returned in good condition according to the instructions of your Study Centre.
