Sesamoid අස්ථි යනු කණ්ඩරාවන් තුළ තැන්පත් කර ඇති කුඩා, වටකුරු අස්ථි වේ. ඒවා බොහෝ විට අත් සහ පාදවල දක්නට ලැබේ, නමුත් දණහිස වැනි ශරීරයේ අනෙකුත් ප්රදේශ වලද දක්නට ලැබේ.
Sesamoid අස්ථි වල කාර්යය
* ඝර්ෂණය අඩු කරන්න: ඒවා ස්පන්දන ලෙස ක්රියා කරයි, කණ්ඩරාවන්ට සහ අනෙකුත් ආසන්න ව්යුහයන් අතර ඝර්ෂණය අඩු කරයි.
* උත්තෝලනය වැඩි කරන්න: සෙසමොයිඩ් අස්ථිවලට කණ්ඩරාවක කෝණය වෙනස් කළ හැකි අතර මාංශ පේශිවල යාන්ත්රික වාසිය වැඩි කරයි.

Tiny but Important
Sesamoid bones are small, round bones embedded within tendons. They are most commonly found in the hands and feet, but can also be present in other areas of the body, such as the knee.
Function of Sesamoid Bones

මිනිසාට තිබෙන ස්ථිර දත් ගණන 32කි. ඒවා 16 බැගින් දත් ඇඳි 02ක් ලෙස පිහිටා ඇත. උඩු ඇන්දේ දත් උඩු හනුවටත් යටි ඇන්දේ දත් යටි හනුවටත් (අධෝ හනුවටත්) සම්බන්ධය.
මිනිසාගේ දත් වර්ග 4කි. එනම්, කෘන්තක (incisors) - 8 රදනක (canines) - 4 පුරශ්චාර්වක (pre- molars) - 8 චාර්වක (molars) -12
